Chapter twelve

Zack’s POV

“Whatever you have to say, save it,” she spilled, grabbing her clothes from the wardrobe and dunking them in her bag. She wanted to get away from me by all means.

She didn’t care how but she wanted to leave.

“Kayla…”

“What do you want to say again?!” she yelled. “I’ve heard all you needed to say. My mother is dead. I’m leaving. I can’t stay with the same person who murdered my real mother. I know what I had to go through with my fake one just to end up here.”

“You seem to be so focused on your anger that you wouldn’t hear what I say,” I sighed. “I told you it was an accident. I don’t know. It’s not like I go around murdering everyone I meet. I mean… you’re still alive aren’t you?”

She saw my point and plopped on the bed crying. She was confused and so was I. Fate had a funny way of playing its games and this was not the time for it.

How was it that the one woman I had fallen for was a descendant of the woman I had killed?

Why did it have to be her?!
