Chapter 8

The next nine days flew by in a blur, mum running around organising my 18th birthday, Sophie trying to get me to go to the city with her to buy a birthday dress, to which I agreed. Sophie convinced me she would pick the perfect dress for me. I knew all she needed was my credit card to make that endeavour plausible. And every morning and afternoon I went to training.

Sophie went shopping three days before, I walked around behind her sipping on my caramel latte taking in all the displays in the shop windows and listening to Sophie have an internal battle about the dresses she had seen and from what I  old gather they were all wrong, wrong colour, wrong style just wrong, till I came across a beautiful handbag sitting in a window and had to stop Sophie so I could go in and buy it. It was a shiny crocodile skin plastic leather covered in silver chains and dangle ornaments scattered around the handbag. And for $1,500 it was worth it.
