Just as sleep was knocking at her door a different type of knock came from the real world. Groaning at the notification sound she stood up on her hands and looked over at the phone on the coffee table. Scrambling for the device she struggled to get it due to being too lazy to move off her couch.
Once she got a hold of it she opened her notifications only to be surprised by the number of messages she received from her best friend. A bit distraught by the overwhelming number of them she made haste to dial her friend.
Ring Ring
"Layla, I am so sorry I-"
"Robin where the heck have you been? Are you alright?"
"Y-Yeah I am. Why did something happen?"
She asked her frantic friend concerned that she might have been in some sort of danger or hurt.
"What do you mean what happened? What happened is that I found myself playing maid of honour to your evil sister, not to mention waking up to seeing my best friend's face pasted on every news channel. Robin what the hell is going on?!"
"Wait, go back what did you mean playing maid of honour for my sister?"
She asked confused. The last time she checked the wedding was cancelled due to the groom's infidelity. So why in the world was she complaining about it?
"Oh my gosh, Robin. I am so sorry I thought you knew"
"Knew what Layal?"
"Marcey and Victor got married"
It was at that moment she felt her heart fall to her stomach. An indescribable feeling washed over her in waves. Nearly dropping the phone to the floor her hands shook as a nauseating feeling came over her.
"Robin are you still there? Hello, are you alright?!"
Layla grew worried at Robin's silence and began to call out to her friend but the words were muted by the static-like noise coming from her ears. She felt her body grow heavy all of a sudden, her vision turned foggy and the feeling of dread showered her.
Layla's calls grew louder as did her worry. Hearing her friend pleading for her she shook her head in an attempt to clear her mind of the deafening sound in her head she composed herself bringing the phone back to her ear.
"U-Um, sorry I kinda...lost you there. What were you saying?"
"What happened the night of the wedding? Why wasn't it you walking down the aisle?"
What could she say to that? That her cheating fiance was the cause, that her greedy sister who was always in competition with her wanted her man, or that her mother was right and no man would ever love someone so fat?
"It's, it's complicated"
"No, Robin it's not. Tell me what happened and the truth"
Robin knew there was no getting out of this, her friend was not the kind to easily let go of things. Sighing out loud she told her the truth.
"He cheated on me. That's it"
"What, with who?"
"My sister."
"Oh no, Robin"
"It's fine, it isn't that big of the deal. Plenty of fish in the sea. Off to the next and all that"
She swiftly lied to her friend pretending to be unaffected by all this. However, on her side she had tears lining her eyes threatening to fall but she refused to shed a single tear for the man who ruined her.
"...Robin I know what you're going through right now is hard and I know you're a strong woman but you don't have to lie with me. You know I'm always gonna be there for you and will never judge you so, please don't shut yourself from me of all people"
"I know."
She whispered to her friend Layla reciprocated with a soft hum. The two sat in silence waiting for the other to speak.
"Hey, Layla"
"Yeah?"
"There are, there a few things that are going to happen and I won't be able to tell you about them yet."
"Okay?"
"But I promise you once everything is solved I will explain it all to you, so for now I just really need you to trust me."
"Is this about the scandal thing?"
"Yeah"
"...Okay, though I don't know what is going on, I'll trust you"
The tears she had been holding in since yesterday night and this morning when she opened her eyes finally spilt, she sat alone in her room on her couch silently weeping to herself.
"Thank you"
Her voice came out broken and raspy but she felt better after consulting her closest friend and only ally.
Dropping her phone onto the bed she lay beside it with her face facing the ceiling. After her emotional outburst, she and Layla spent a few hours talking about useless things and reminiscing about their past.
Turning to her window she noticed the night sky now in place of the blue she had woken up to.
Wow, did that much time pass already?
Getting up from her bed she walked toward the window looking out to the streets with their pedestrians down below. Shifting her eyes up at the buildings she saw a billboard with a model on one of them, catching her reflection in the window she immediately stepped back.
She could not help but slightly feel inferior and disgusted with her body. Deciding to begin packing her things instead of dwelling on things she could not change she closed her curtains and walked to her dresser.
Low self-esteem was not one of her major problems at the moment. She had to get both her mind and body prepared for what was yet to come tomorrow and she was far from ready.
Strive forward Robin, strive forward.
Waking up once again to another day Robin opened her curtains wide and stared out into the city. Gazing up at the clear blue sky her face fell in distraught as the sky had remained the same whilst her life was slowly crumbling. Shifting away from the window she looked at the fully packed luggage bag sitting atop her bed. Everything was packed and ready to go. The only thing that was not prepared was her heart. Sitting on the edge of her bed she sighed, burying her face in her hands. Though she had already signed the contract she was still unsure of her decision. Doubt filled her mind and a sinking feeling settled in the pits of her stomach. Just as she was falling into a tunnel of uncertainty she was brought back by the sudden knock on her door. Whipping her head out of her hands she stood up from her bed and made her way to the door. "Who is it?" She called out with her hand on the handle leaning against the door. "Ms Heymers? My name is Alec I was sent here by Mr Acres." "O
Coming to a halt at the foot of the entrance stairs Alec got out to open the door for her. Once again he offered a hand to help her out this time. As soon as she stepped out her heart fluttered at the beautiful mansion. She knew the man she had signed her soul off to was rich but had no idea he was that wealthy. "Wow" She breathlessly gasped looking up to the stairs that led to the main door. A large black oak door with small intricate designs carved in them. "Ms Heymers? Please follow me" Carrying her luggage up the stairs Alec gestured for her to follow. Felling a bit guilty about giving her things to someone else to carry she offered to help only to be quickly shut down. "It is no issue Miss, they aren't even heavy for me." Giving her a reassuring smile Robing allowed him to go on without her help. Entering the mansion again she found herself stunned at the sight. Just as dark as the outside the interior design was just as black. Geez is this man a CEO or part of the mafia?
Grumbling in protest at the light shining across her face Robin turned away from the window in an attempt to fall back into slumber. Sighing in relief she grasped her sheets delighted at their soft touch. Her brows scrunched in confusion at the silk sheets. She did not own anything as soft as this. Startling awake she sat up in a panic. Looking around at her surroundings she slowly calmed down as memories from the previous day came rushing back. "Ah, right. I forgot about it" Relieved from her shock she lay back on her pillows. Closing her eyes in meditation she heaved a large sigh sinking into the large pillows behind her. A small breeze made its way into the room from the small opening of the window. All tension left her body, shivers ran across her skin at the touch of the cold breeze. Before falling asleep, a knock on the door frightened her out of her daze. Her senses came back and she answered the stranger behind the door with a small yet audible voice. "Um, come in" The do
Her breath caught in her chest at the feel of his half-naked body against her. She could feel his morning wood poking at the small of her back. His other arm slowly made its way to her stomach, running it across her chest finally stopping at her neck. Holding her with a firm grip he played with her throat. A thousand things ran through her head at that moment. She was confused as to why he was doing this. But even though her head kept telling her to step away from him her body could not follow suit. Lowering his head to the side of her neck he ran his nose up to her ear. With each stroke of his hand on her neck, a shiver ran down her spine. Smirking at her reaction he bit the tip of her. Releasing a moan her back arched in delight as she had no control over her body. Before she could lose herself in the pleasure he suddenly let go of his grip on her and stood back. She caught herself before she fell and looked back at the man with fury in her eyes. It was the fiery look from that
Picking herself from the floor she brushed her hair out of her face and sighed in defeat. It had not been long since she had woken up but she was already far too tired to carry on. Looking to her side she placed her hand on her hips. "Now what?" The man behind the door was supposed to bring her to the dining area for breakfast but he instead left her to fend for herself. Glancing back at the door with the man she called her husband behind it, she considered asking for help but immediately crushed the idea as fast as it had come up. She picked a random direction down the hallway, figuring she might work things out as she went. A decision she would soon regret. Half an hour passed and she had yet to find what she was looking for. Rounding another corner she finally submitted to the idea that she had no clue where she was. "Yeah. I'm lost" Grunting in frustration she could not help but blame the man who brought her here for her new misfortune. "If that jerk just thought about help
"Perhaps she could truly be a match for Mr Acres" "Who could be a match for the boss?" Another voice asked stopping Alec in his stead. Looking over to the owner of the said voice he sighed in annoyance at the boy standing behind him. "Mabel, you're supposed to be guarding the south wing." "And you're supposed to be guarding the fourth quadrant and yet here we are." Rolling his eyes at the sassy youngster he began walking. feeling the presence of the younger male still behind him he continued his walk in silence but that did not last long. "So who were you talking about and why aren't you where you're supposed to be?" "I am the head guard I ask the questions not the other way around" "Yeah, yeah" Brushing his words off he placed his hands behind his head signifying how much of a relaxed person he was. "So are you gonna tell me or not?" Knowing full well that the boy won't let this go Alec finally gave in. "I was talking about the new mistress. She seems to be quite the char
Confused by his words Robin tilted her head in question. "What is it?" She asked, hesitant. The man seated before her gave a cold, calculative look. A completely new face she had never seen from him. She was used to the man smirking and teasing her but the gaze he gave her then was an unfamiliar one. "As I previously stated even though we are now married it does not solve our original problem" Placing his elbows on the table he leaned forward his hands clasped together. She nodded in agreement as remnants of their previous conversation ran through her head. "You said there's a big party happening soon right?" "Yes, and that big party is in exactly three days" "What, three days?" "Is there an issue with that?" He quirked a brow at her in question to which she reciprocated with a brow raise of her own. "You're kidding, right? Three days isn't enough for us to come off as a happy lovey-dovey couple we're trying to fool people into believing we are. I don't even know what your f
"You have a good eye" Startled by the sudden voice she turned around to see a blonde man wearing a beret standing behind her. He reached a hand towards the dress, pulled it out from its position and placed it against her body. Nodding in approval he smiled at her in a friendly manner. "Green is a good colour for you. Compliments that chocolaty brown skin of yours." "O-Oh, Uhm thank you very much" "So?" He asked giving a questioning look. Robin confused by his question tilted her head. "So, what?" "So, won't you try it out a bit?" "Oh, no I couldn't possibly" "And why not?" The strange man asked with a disappointed look. "I just don't think something as beautiful as that could fit someone of my...stature" "And what exactly is your stature? Curvy? Beautifully gifted with a nice thick ass and thighs? Girl, I would kill to look like you." Embarrassed by the compliment she could not help but shyly smile at the stranger. She has never had anyone compliment her body in such a way
