I fiddled with my fingers, tapping my feet on the ground as anxiety crept at the back of my neck. As much as I was so happy to see her, I couldn't deny the mixed emotions that surged through me as she came into the coffee shop with a wavering smile plastered on her face.

Every part of me crumbled when the scars that were marred on her skin were now evident. I felt bad for her and at the same time, anger clogged my throat for being tolerant of Matteo all this while.

I tried to hide the tears that pressed at the back of my eyelids and at the same time, I was proud that she was finally ready to be saved.

I made a tiny sniffle while she sat on the seat across from me.

“Junia…..” My name danced on her tongue, her eyes glinting with amusement. “I am proud of the woman that you have become,”
