My head was searching for something to say, but I couldn't find the words at that moment. What would I say to Derick? What if he decided to report me to Andrew? I was lost.

"What are you doing here, Emma?" he asked.

"I presume that's really not your concern," I said with a smile.

"I see," I said, holding onto the breakfast tray.

I walked toward one of the tables, and the scoundrel followed me and sat next to me. How could I escape this mafioso now? What should I do? He sat in the chair to my right, and I observed him.

"What do you want, Derick?" I asked. "We're not friends."

"Am I bothering you?"

"I think so."

"I don't want to harm you, Emma. I just wanted to ask if you and Andrew have separated. I know how complicated Andrew can be."
