67."Emma's Trail"

Quickly, I swung open the bedroom door, and Emma was nowhere to be found.

"Search everywhere," I ordered the security personnel.

Where could she have gone? She couldn't... She couldn't just run away with my child in her belly. What was Emma thinking?

"Is she nowhere to be found?" Lorenzo inquired.

"No. She's nowhere in sight," I sighed.

"Where could she have gone?" Lorenzo asked.

"I have no damn clue, Lorenzo. There's no reason for Emma to run away."

"Or maybe there is. You didn't give a damn when she told you she was pregnant."

"I didn't give a damn? I just asked for some time to think."

"The only alternative is that she thought you didn't want the baby, or you'd take it away from her."

"I don't know," I sighed. "We have a contract; she can't just walk away and break the rules."

"Don, you broke the rules of that contract the moment you got genuinely involved with her."
