8. Confrontation gone wrong

HAZEL:

Just as Michael had promised, he brought me a change of clothes. I was indeed grateful and got changed immediately. Luca was out of the office and so, I didn't get any funny looks.

I heard the door opening and closing but didn't bother to look up. I pretended to be busy with some files but in reality, I was just staring at an empty screen.

"Report." I heard him saying. I sighed and picked up a file I had gotten from other departments. I walked steadily to his table and dropped the file. I looked somewhere else while he went through the file.

"This is utter rubbish!" He exclaimed and threw the file away, startling me in the process. The papers inside the file were scattered all over the office.

"Why would you accept reports like this? Even if they're all dumb enough to send this, shouldn't you take a look at it before bringing it to me or are you dumb too?" He was indirectly insulting me but I wasn't going to give him a reaction.

"I'm sorry, sir. It won't happen again." I
