Bonus Short Story: Kaelan pt. 6

"I can't believe it," Ivy says and shakes her head in disapproval. "I told you to release it back in the wild.

"I can't do that. I love her," I say.

"Her?" Ivy raises her eyebrows.

"Erhm...I mean...it looks like a girl creature," I stammer.

Ivy exhales. "Anyway. You should've listened to me when I told you you couldn't keep it in the house.

"I'm sorry, Ivy. I didn't mean to disobey you. It's just that...what if Flutter starves to death? Besides, I think she grew attached to me too," I say and smile at the creature tenderly.

As if knowing how I felt, Flutter starts to lift her off the ground, fluttering her tiny wings. She flies over to me and nuzzles her soft head against my cheek.

Ivy rolls her eyes. "Alright, fine. I'll admit it's really cute."

Hope flickers in me. "Does that mean I can keep her?" I ask.

"Go ahead. But make sure to keep it out of Ryder's way. He may not like it," Ivy warns me.

I nod, grateful for her support.
