Chapter 6: Concealing The Truth

"When am I allowed to leave?" Sophia asked grumpily, looking at Caden who was staring outside the huge window with a blank expression. He shifted his gaze and looked at Sophia, exploring every change he sees on her.

"You seem energetic. Don't worry it won't be long before you can go back to our house." He said, his eyes deep and piercing.

"House?" Sophia muttered tilting her head sideways.

"What?"

"It's just you called it house... shouldn't it be home if were married?" She said, putting her hand in her chin, contemplating.

Caden was slightly taken aback by what she said, 'She's right, what we have isn't a home, it's just a plain house that we are obligated to stay in because of our marriage.' He stared back at the scenery outside, releasing his breath, making a haze on the window from his cold breath.

"Caden..."

"Mmm?" Caden hummed in response.

Sophia looked at him from her bed, she could tell that they didn't share a bond or anything deep because whenever he's around her, his face remained stoic and void of any emotion.

She cleared her throat and closed her eyes momentarily, sighing, "Do you want a divorce?" She asked.

Caden who heard what she just said looked at her in an instant, his eyes narrowing down to her, he thought she was just joking, but when he examined her face, all it showed was sincerity and seriousness.

"What do you mean?" Caden's heart skipped a beat, he walked towards her with a domineering aura, not happy of the thought that she might be just playing with him.

'Is she faking everything? Does she remember what happened?' Cadent thought to himself, the idea making his blood gush out of control, but what Sophia said next made him stop on his tracks, making him almost immobile.

"You don't love me do you?" Sophia said, her face downcasted, as she smiled sadly. She ogled Caden's face, and his shocked reaction made her stomach tingle a bit.

'Sigh... it's clear this man doesn't like me. Too bad, he's really handsome. What did I even do to get in this situation, and why the heck did we get married if we don't like each other?!' She screamed on her mind, but her face didn't show any changes, to Caden, she looked solemn, almost as if she was on another level that he can't reach.

For some reason, the idea of them getting a divorce didn't excite him.

'Why do I fucking feel like this...I should be happy right? Why do I feel like something is wrong? Why is she letting me go so easily?' Caden was bewildered by her actions.

'What's wrong with him? Why is he staring at me creepily?!' Sophia moved back to her bed, scared of Caden who didn't talk all the time while staring at her unblinking.

"Ummm, are you okay?" She asked, her voice breaking slightly from nervousness. But still, Caden didn't reply to her, and his thoughts seems to be getting deeper and deeper since his face was also getting darker. As if any moment he was going to explode.

'This is it, he's handsome but crazy! This attitude of his is probably the reason why we weren't happy before.' She thought, blaming their unhappy marriage life to Caden, all for the wrong reasons.

"I'm gonna go..." Sophia said, getting off the bed quickly but before her feet could even land on the cold tiled floor, a rough hand grabbed her wrist tightly, not letting go.

"Where are you going?" Caden asked dangerously.

"Out," Sophia pointed at the door.

"I'm going with you." Caden replied almost immediately. After that, none of them moved a muscle. Sophia stared at him with ridicule in her eyes, and Caden stared back with an unknown look.

Sophia was about to open her mouth and question him, but the door suddenly opened and loud booming voices penetrated their ears.

"Soph! You're finally awake!"

"Oh God! I thought they were kidding when I heard the phone call."

"She's really awake!"

"Heck yeah, our sleeping beauty is finally up!"

Sophia's friends came inside baring in without notice and were jumping up and down from excitement.

Sophia and Caden were still in shock from the intruders. They got away from each other fast, and Sophia smiled widely while looking at her friends.

"You guys!" Sophia strutted towards them, Kate and Klare gave her a bone crushing hug, while Marcus and Aiden stood on the sideline smiling goofily at their display.

"Gosh I feel like I'm still..."

"I'm going out." Caden interjected between their conversation and left coldly.

It was just now that everyone realized that he was inside with them, making their blood run cold. Before he got out of the room, he took a long look at Sophia, and looking at her smile to others made his heart itch.

'How can she genuinely smile at others, but when with me, she's always forcing it. I am that despicable?' He moved his gaze away and closed the door completely.

...

Everyone took a seat on the hospital bed as if they were in a slumber party, except the guys weren't quite because their bodies were literally squishing i side the tight spaced bed.

"Can you guys just be gentlemen for once and just stand up!" Kate yelled.

"Why can't you women try being gentlewoman?! Huh?" Marcus huffed, but Aiden who was sitting beside him slapped his head, and being the more responsible adult he pulled him up to give the girls more space.

"Hmph, that's more like it." Kate raised her chin up and purposely flipped her hair hard making it slap Marcus' face, which in return, the short tempered Marcus pulled without mercy making her screech.

"Hey stop that!" Klare decided to end the fight before it gets out of hand.

"You guys, I really missed you." Sophia muttered, brushing the tears that escaped her eyes while laughing at the commotion in front of her.

"Oh Sophiaaa..." Kate mumbled, hugging her.

"Anyway if I got it correct, six years have already passed since we last met correct?" Sophia asked, and her friends looked at each other, who then stared at her with pity in their eyes.

"So is it true that you've really forgotten all about, umm...Caden?" Klare asked slowly, not sure if it was the right time to ask the question.

"Yeah..." Sophia replied.

"So what do you remember exactly?" Marcus asked without thinking, making him receive a huge slap on his shoulder.

"Can you for once start thinking if what you're about to say is appropriate before talking." Aiden reprimanded him, and he hurriedly muttered a "sorry" to Sophia.

"That's okay." Sophia smiled, "Well, all I remember was that summer ended and we were finally on our last year in college, there are things I remember though, I remember most of our college years, I mean graduating. Sadly, everything after that... I-it's all hazy to me. I don't even remember getting married." She laughed lightly, but deep inside she wanted to know what exactly happened, to remember everything she have forgotten.

"I see," Kate whispered, "And what about before the accident? Do you remember anything?" She asked. Sophia shook her head, and crashed her body in the soft bed leisurely.

"No, I don't remember any of it. I just woke up one day, and I'm already here, it's honestly weird, like everything became a blip to me. Like time went fast in one day." She said, as everyone watched her in silence.

"Well I think it's for the best anyway." Marcus uttered again, and this time, he didn't receive just one slap but three from each of his friends.

"Will you just shut your mouth. Sophia is already hurting as it is." Kate scolded him.

"Well I'm not wrong to say that. I mean, no offense Soph, but that husband of yours is a real piece of trash. And you all know it!" Marcus said directly, and all of them stared at him as if he was crazy to say that, but they couldn't also deny what he said.

Kate on the other hand was curious why he would say such a thing.

"What do you mean by that? Did he treat me badly or hurt me?" Sophia asked, oblivious.

"What's going on here?" Everyone eyes switched to the door to see Caden their standing with food and a paper bag in his hands.

Caden could see from his peripheral vision, Marcus looking at him with a black face, but he didn't pay him any mind and continued feigning ignorance.

He was actually standing outside enough for him to hear Marcus badmouthing him. When he heard him about to spill what he did to Sophia back then, he couldn't stand it and immediately opened the door to interrupt them, before they spill anything.

Marcus was about to make a fuss, but thanks to Aiden he didn't, he gripped Marcus arms hard and whispered something in his ears to calm him down.

'This fucking wimp is such an eyesore.' Caden thought, swiping a look at Marcus giving him a death look before going to Sophia, attending to her.

"The doctors said you can go HOME today. We can leave after you have lunch." He said, stressing the word "home", then looked at each of Sophia's friends, as if telling them with his eyes 'Back the hell off!".

"O-okay." Sophia stuttered. Caden gave her the food, and urged her to eat.

All while everyone stared at her the whole time, making her uncomfortable, adding to the dead silence, and the obvious exchange of glares between Caden and Marcus.
