54. Lackluster

This morning, I sat at the dinner table with Dad. The aroma of warm coffee from my cup wafted out until it smelled so good on my nose.

Dad looked at me with concern and said, "Kei, why do you look a bit different this morning? Usually, you are always excited to go to school."

I smiled faintly, trying to hide the indecisive feelings that I'd been feeling since yesterday afternoon.

"Ah, it's normal, Dad. Maybe I'm just a little less excited today," I answered briefly while continuing my breakfast activities.

"Is there something bothering you at your school to keep you from getting excited?" asked Dad to make sure.

"Nothing, Dad. This is just me, who is too lazy to go to school. But because today there is a physics subject test, I have to go to school," I answered, which was an obvious lie to cover up the real situation.
