Chapter Sixty Two

(Cara's POV)

I turned away from Emmaline, walking through the shocked crowd.

It was over. I won.

Then they applauded, and when I passed, they looked down in respect. Finally, I had earned my place, I had earned my respect.

Rollins was beside me; he swept me off my feet, and I leaned against him. He was my 'home', and through the crowds, I spotted a single person who stood, looking at me straight in the eyes—a single person who wasn't applauding. Teo.

I could see the pain in his eyes.

"You left me," I said as soon as we were back in Rollins office. "In the time I needed you the most, in the time I needed someone, you left me. Why?"

He stared at me; he didn't answer.

"Rollins, I wish you knew what I did" I cried out.

"What you did to Emmaline was right," he argued, if only he understood what I meant.

"That right there, that wasn't me; it was like I was a different person entirely but still the same; it was weird, like some part of me I had never discovered was unlocked.
