Chances

When I arrived at the door of the house, my heart almost stopped, and I let some tears escape. I had to be strong and leave before he asked me to leave. When I entered the house, he was sitting on the couch with his phone to his ear, trying to call me again. When he saw me, he sighed in relief and came to me, giving me a hug that melted me.

"Where were you, my love? I kept calling you like crazy, I was so worried."

I pushed him away, and he looked at me, confused. I went to the bedroom, followed by him, and grabbed some clothes from my suitcase. Then, I went into the bathroom, taking a long, relaxing shower. When I came out dressed, he was sitting on the bed, waiting for me. When his eyes met mine, I felt all my determination fading.

"Why did you leave like that without telling me anything?"

"I needed to think. I heard your conversation with your mother and decided that I'm going back home."

He looked at me, dumbfounded, and I could feel his expression of concern turning into a look of desperation.

"What are you talking about, Jane? What do you mean going back home? Your place is here with me. You're my wife!"

"I'm your wife, but when your mother asked if you hadn't made a mistake, you replied: 'Maybe.'"

"And did you hear the rest?"

"No. I was so upset that I left immediately."

"I said, 'Maybe, I think I made a mistake thinking that my own mother would support me and see how happy I am with the woman I love.' Jane, I have no doubt that you are the woman of my life, and my only regret about our marriage was not being able to wait for a traditional wedding because I wanted to see you walk into a church in a white dress while we declared our love before God and our families."

Tears rolled down my face, and guilt consumed me. He stood up and came towards me, wiping away my tears with his fingers.

"I don't want you to leave. I love you, and I want to do everything right. Will you agree to have a traditional wedding party to reaffirm our vows?"

He smiled at me, and I could see his eyes filled with emotion as he proposed to me for the second time. How could I have doubted his love when he had always been more than perfect with me? I started crying uncontrollably and hugged him tightly, feeling all the guilt for betraying him.

"I'm sorry, my love! I'm sorry!"

"You don't need to apologize, my love, it's okay."

His smile only brought me more guilt; I didn't deserve his love.

"I do need to. I ruined everything!"

"You didn't ruin anything, my love."

He smiled and wiped away my tears that kept falling.

"I'm a fool, idiot, impulsive. Forgive me!"

"Hey! You're none of that. You're the woman of my life!"

"No, love..."

I pushed him away, and his look seemed confused.

"Forgive me, I left your mother's house determined to end our relationship and go back to the United States. I was upset, so I went to a club to drink, and I ended up..."

I was breathless, and tears overwhelmed me. I felt a lump in my throat, and I could hardly speak. He now looked at me seriously and closed his eyes, already imagining what I was going to say.

"Is it over?"

"I ended up being with another man..."

He closed his eyes upon hearing that and sat on the bed, trying to digest what I had said.

"Who?"

"I don't know, just some random guy. I didn't even want to know his name; I was just frustrated and wanted to try, even for a moment, to forget about you."

He buried his face in his hands, and I was hating myself for hurting the man I loved. He stayed like that for a while until he took a deep breath and looked at me with teary eyes.

"And did you? Did you forget about me? "

His teary-eyed face broke my heart, and I knelt between his legs, hugging him.

"Of course not! I'm crazy about you! That man meant nothing to me! I love you! Please forgive me!"

He pulled me into his lap and hugged me while tears rolled down his face. I held onto him and couldn't believe the mistake I had made. My impulsiveness had made me wrong the only person who had never been wrong with me and who had treated me like a queen since day one. We stayed hugged for a while until he took my hand and intertwined our fingers.

"Did it really mean nothing?"

"Nothing! I don't even know his name, and I'll never see him again in my life."

"Promise?"

"I promise, my love! If you forgive me, I swear I'll be the best wife in the world!"

He gave me a weak smile and nodded.

"Okay. Let's forget about this, alright?"

I started kissing him, and he returned my kiss as urgently as I did.

"I love you! I love you! I love you, my love!"

"I love you too much, but please try to talk to me before making decisions. We're married now, and we can solve anything if we talk."

"Okay! I promise!"

"Thank you for telling me the truth, as painful as it is, I prefer to know it from you. It makes me trust even more in your character because others in your place wouldn't have told me."

"I don't like lies."

"I know that, and that's one of the reasons why I love you!"

I kissed him intensely again, feeling lighter after telling the truth. He forgave me, and now we could move forward without any guilt. We had breakfast together and started unpacking the suitcase. While I was arranging the closet, he grabbed me from behind, startling me, and turned me towards him, giving me several kisses on the face. Soon we were rolling on the bed; he undressed me gently and entered me with tenderness while constantly telling me how much he loved me. We made love in a unique, gentle, and delicious way that soon brought both of us to climax, thus concluding our reconciliation sex.

Today, Daon had to return to the record label where he worked and was excited for me to meet his friends. We took a shower together and got ready, heading towards Mixed, the record label where Daon was not only a rapper but also a producer. We arrived there after some time driving, and everyone seemed very happy to see Daon, but also very shocked when he said that I was his wife. He laughed at people's reactions, and we headed to the office of the record label owner, who was also Daon's best friend.

"Love, the person I most want you to meet is Jayden. He helped me a lot in my career and is my best friend. I hope you two get along well. He's a bit of a player, but he's a good guy."

I laughed at his description of his best friend, and when we reached the door of his friend's office, my phone rang. I looked to see who it was and saw that it was Tracy.

"Love, you go ahead, I need to take this call."

"Okay, love, I'll wait for you in here

I answered the phone in the hallway, silently grateful that nobody else was around.

"Hey, you floozy."

"What's up, cow? Did you call because you're already missing me?"

"Missing you? No way, I couldn't wait to get rid of you."

"Besides being a floozy, you're a liar. So, why did you call?"

"Nothing special, just wanted to let you know I arrived safely and to see how you're doing."

I lied because I knew that if I told her the truth, she would say a big "I told you so," as she thought it was crazy for me to have married so quickly.

"Oh, that's good! Everything's fine here. And how are you there in the land of rice eaters?"

"Everything's great."

"That's good! I'll hang up now because I don't have a rich husband to pay for my international calls. If you need anything, just message me."

I hung up the phone, smiling, and then knocked on the door, immediately hearing Daon's response.

"Come in, love!"

I opened the door and walked in, then closed it behind me. Daon came over to me, kissing me, and when he pulled away, I finally saw the man sitting in the CEO's chair at Mix, with a look of shock reflecting mine. It seemed like I had seen a ghost, and I wished it had been.

"Jayden, this is Jane, my wife. Jane, this is my boss and best friend, Jayden Park!"

I froze at the sight of Daon's boss and best friend, the man I had slept with the night before. And now, how am I going to get out of this situation?
