Chapter 2

I launched myself at Grant only to be thrown to the ground and laughed at

“You think you can take me out, little sister?” Grant whispered into my ear as he grabbed my hair

“I will fight you if it means you don’t kill my only friend!” I shouted at him and spit in his face. I used his reaction as my chance to attack him. I threw my fist into his face and watched as he fell to the ground in shock, that’s when I ran to Dime.

“You bitch!” Grant yelled and I stood in shock as the others moved in to take me out but Drew stood in their way and said something to them; I watched as they all left with glares pointing my way. I looked back at Dime and picked up her unmoving body. I tried to carry her to the school nurse but she was too heavy for me to carry. I noticed I had eyes watching me and turned to see Drew standing there watching me try to help my friend to the nurse’s office

“Are you going to follow your buddies?” I asked him

“Eh” Drew responded

“Alright then,” I said with uncertainty and tried to lift Dime from the ground again.

“Ugh, let me help” Drew sighed as he walked over to Dime and me. Drew bent down and grabbed Dime. He made his way towards the nurse's office, I was standing in shock as I watched him take off with Dime,

“Wait!” I shouted as I took off after him. The nurse picked her head up as we walked in and gasped at Dime’s unconscious body hanging in Drew’s arms, she ran over and quickly grabbed Dime from Drew’s hold, and quickly got to work on her. I stared off into space as the nurse tried to heal Dime but was knocked out of my train of thought when Drew spoke out.

“I hope your friend is ok” Drew said to me as he stared towards where the nurse was working,

“Yeah, sure you do” I whispered with sarcasm

“I do” Drew snapped at me,

“It’s hard to believe that someone with no heart could care about someone like us!” I yelled at him trying not to disturb the nurse;

“I do have a heart otherwise I wouldn’t be alive” Drew said back with a smirk making fun of my little come back, which only angered me more than before.

“Ok, then it’s hard to believe that someone like you could care about someone like us” I replied with a snarl as I pushed past him and into the room where Dime was. The nurse left me with Dime saying she had a concussion and she would be waking up soon and when she did to take her straight home, I nodded my head saying I would.

“Come on Dime wake up! I have to get you home before your parents get there and before my brothers come in and do more damage! Plus we are missing so much right now! I blame you, you know it’s only better if you don’t fight back! ” I whispered in her ear

“Would you shut up?! I have a concussion and you are not helping!” Dime replied with a groan, opening her eyes and giving me a smile

“You know I can’t stop talking when I’m nervous!” I gave her a pout but then smiled with her knowing she was better than before. We walked out of the nurse's office and headed to my truck

“Dime?” I asked

“Yes?”

“Where do you want to eat?” I asked her with a little smirk knowing what her answer would be

“Do you even have to ask!?” Dime shouted at me but then held her head in pain

“Just go to Tropical Smoothie, you jerk” Dime growled out, I laughed knowing she would yell at me for being so stupid

“Dummy” I whispered under my breath and headed towards Tropical Smoothie. We arrived at Tropical Smoothie, ordered, and headed to Dime’s house,

“Ok, let’s get you home,” I said as I grabbed her hand and dragged her out to my truck. Dime and I laughed and sang our songs, quietly so her head wouldn’t flare up in pain, the whole way to her house

“Are your parents home?” I asked Dime as we pulled into her long driveway

“Probably not” Dime shrugged her shoulders, her parents are rich like mine and don’t spend much time with her, which is one of the reasons Dime didn’t leave me because she understood what I was and still am going through.

“I’ll see you tomorrow Dime!” I shouted out my window as she walked up to the big doors that lead into the house

“Yeah, see you then” she waved back. I took off down her driveway and down the street towards my hell hole, sorry “home”. I drove up to my driveway, slowly, making sure my parents’ cars weren’t parked out front, knowing my brothers were still at school. I parked my truck in the garage I had made for it and quickly ran up to my bedroom and jumped onto the “comfy” bed that was calling my name

“I’m home bed!” I hugged my poor bed and felt my eyes closing on their own

“Nighty night” I whispered to my bed as I fell asleep. I woke up with a start as someone was screaming downstairs

“ Did you see her face when Diamond fell to the ground?!” a familiar voice shouted from downstairs as laughter followed it

“And the way she tried to fight back against me!” Grant laughed even harder as he remembered that moment,

“Speaking of which why did you let her go?” Nate asked Drew right outside my bedroom

“Did you want to go to jail for killing a girl? Cause that’s what would have happened if Diamond hadn’t gotten to the nurse!” Drew pointed out to Nate and the others,

“I guess you are right” Brock replied, laughter following his answer, and walked away from my room. I watched as they all walked into one of the boy’s rooms and made sure they were all in the room before I  made my way to the kitchen. I quickly grabbed my crackers from the cupboard and opened the fridge to grab my cheese when a hand came out of nowhere and closed the door. I screamed and turned around to see all five boys standing behind me with smirks that could kill you.

“When did you get home little girl?” Tom asked me as he walked over to me and ripped my crackers out of my hand

“Just now actually” I came up with a quick answer before they figured out I was lying

“Really, cause we didn’t hear your crappy truck pulling up the driveway” Nate laughed out trying to see how I would react,

“My “crappy” truck doesn’t make any noises” I shot back at Nate turning around to grab some more of my crackers. When all of a sudden I was slammed into the wall next to the fridge

“You do not talk back to us! You hear me!” Grant yelled into my face while pushing my head into the wall,

“Answer him, Sapphire!” Brock yelled at me

“Yes, I understand” I whispered in pain

“What was that?” Brock said to me

“I said, I understand” I screamed at him,

“Oh Sapphire, you shouldn’t have done that” Grant whispered in my ear with a dark and scary voice.
