Chapter 3

The boys had gone up to Brock’s room minutes ago leaving me on the floor bleeding and bruised, I tried getting up a couple of times only to fall back down again. I tried getting up again but I could feel my body rejecting the movement and I finally fell towards the ground again waiting for more pain to flash across my body, but something stopped me from hitting the hard ground.

“Sapphire?” I heard a voice call to me

“Sapphire, are you ok?” the voice asked again as I slowly opened my eyes to see Drew’s face filled with worry, worry? Why is his face filled with worry?

“Drew, why are you here?” I asked him as I tried to get away from him but he pulled me back

“I’m making sure you were ok” Drew answered

“I’m fine now go away,” I said as I tried to stand up but failed and fell back down near Drew, thankfully landing on the couch that happened to be near,

“Let me help Sapphire” Drew whispered in my ear as he lifted my body off the couch I had fallen on

“Fine” I huffed out in frustration and tiredness as he carried me to my room. Drew placed me on my bed and covered me with my blanket,

“Are you good? Do you need anything else?” Drew rushed out as he took a step back,

“What I need is for you to leave and never talk to me again!” I shouted at Drew with a rude and mean sound to it

“You do understand that I didn’t lay a hand on you right?” Drew said as he walked closer to me but I flinched when he reached his hand out and groaned from the pain of moving

“I don’t care!” I growled at him

“You didn’t even try to stop them, you stood and watched! So to me, you did cause harm!” Drew looked down to the ground and walked out mumbling a sorry under his breath. I woke up to my parents yelling up to me

“Sapphire! Come eat!”

“Coming” I yelled back and stood up but fell back down from the pain flashing up my body and nausea coming over me

“Sapphire, what happened?” Mom called up to me

“Just tripped” I called back to her and sucked up the pain I was feeling and made my way downstairs. I checked my reflection in the mirror by the kitchen and saw my eyes were a little black and blue around them but nothing too noticeable and a few bruises on my cheeks, my lip was split down the middle. I walked into the kitchen and my Mom looked at me

“Why do you look more crappy than usual?” Mom asked me

“I fell asleep when I got home and forgot to take off the makeup I had on and I fell and hit my lip on the floor.” I quickly covered up before my brothers heard Moms question,

“Alright go eat your food” Mom sighed and pushed me into the other room. I stumbled in and caught the attention of Dad, my brothers, and their friends

“Watch your step Sapphire” Dad mumbled out at me

“Sorry Dad” I mumbled out

“Speak clearly!” Brock shouted at me causing me to flinch

“I said sorry Dad,” I said hoping they wouldn’t attack me after this,

“Thank you Sapphire” Dad patted me on the back as he walked out, I knew my face was screaming out that I was in pain but I strained out you’re welcome to Dad before sitting down.

“Don’t you look pretty” Nate whispered out from across the table with a smirk

“Why thank you, Nate, I appreciate the compliment” I sarcastically answered back to him and watched as his smirk fell and a scowl fell into its place. I felt a hard kick against my shin but held my scream in and watched as Grant shook his head at me and smirked like he knew what happened,

“Did you just kick me?” I asked him as the pain slowly drained away from my shin

“Of course I did, you were very rude to my friend Sapphire” Grant smirked and his words fell out of his mouth. I was about to shoot back some words when Drew walked in and sat next to me instead of his friends on the other side, no one ever sits next to me.

“Drew what are you doing?” Brock asked with a very confused look

“Yeah, you don’t want to sit next to that freak” Tom laughed out as he pointed to me, I could feel the tears about to fall as I looked down from them, I was sick and tired of this and I wanted it all to end.

“Leave her be” Drew shouted a bit too loud and my parents came walking in wondering what was going on.

“Drew, are you alright?” Mom asked him and then noticed I was sitting next to him

“Get up!” She shouted at me as she grabbed my arm hard and threw me to the floor

“How dare you sit next to him! No wonder he is shouting” She screamed out and then laughed at me,

“You think you can sit next to a boy! You are so worthless!” She laughed out. My Dad and brothers just laughed as my Mom called me names. I couldn’t escape from it, my body was giving out on me and I no longer held the strength to stand, so I laid there and took in the words they all called me hiding the tears that fell down my face. The laughter died down after they finished verbally abusing me, I found the strength to finally stand up and looked at them with no tears in my eyes, the only thing they could see was the strength in my eyes and my determination.

“ Thank you for the amazing memories and lessons you have all taught me these past years. I have grown into someone you all could never be and I’m happy that I will never be like any of you. I hope your lives will be better without me and I surely hope the police can help you with your problems. Have a nice life! Goodbye!” I sad spilling out all of the words I have been too scared to say over the years. I walked up the stairs while they all stood in shock from my outburst not understanding what I had said.

“You get back down here right now Sapphire!” my mother screamed at me as she realized I threatened to call the police. I heard the boys came running up to try and stop me from calling the cops, but it was too late I was already locked in the bathroom with all of my belongings and calling.

“911, what is your emergency?” said the woman who had answered my call

“Hi my name is Sapphire Highland and I’m reporting that I am a victim of abuse from my parents, brothers, and my brother’s friends” I replied to the woman as the boys banged on the door,

“Oh wow, ok, um… are you with them right now?” the woman asked

“Yes, I am. I am currently locked in the bathroom upstairs” I replied sitting on the sink as the boys shouted for me to unlock the door

“Ok, I’m sending police officers your way right now. Are they trying to get to you?” she asked me as she typed something on a computer

“Yes they are banging on the door asking me to come out” I replied with a sigh

“Ok the police are almost at your position” she replied

“Ok thank you!” I replied to her as I heard the boys starting to realize that I was already on the phone with the police.

“Damn you!” one of the boys yelled

“Quick we have to make a run for it!” another one yelled, I heard footsteps running towards the stairs and down them; I laughed to myself knowing they thought they could get out of this but they couldn’t since I knew their names and where they lived.

I opened the bathroom door as the lady asked me what was going on, I told her the boys had run and were hoping to escape

“The police are a minute away, they won’t get far” the lady replied thinking I thought they would get away

“Oh don’t worry if they do, I know every single thing about them and I’m willing to share with the cops,” I told the operator as I walked down the stairs.
