Nicolas My men have reported the whereabouts of the building where we pinged Cole. They designed the building to seem like an industrial structure. It was swarming with armed personnel and a few vehicles moving back and forth. I don’t know how, but Adrain has already hacked their system, and he bugged the cameras. We were about ten minutes away from the place. Something in me wanted to fucking fly there. We arrived much later than we expected since we were attempting to escape notice, and the deteriorating roads did not help. Ganny just called to tell me that someone had been observed walking into the building. As we were a few meters from the building, we got out of the car and strapped our weapons. Our guns were all fitted with silencers, so they could hear no noise. I loaded all five of my weapons and placed them in their places, keeping extra ammunition in my pocket. Darkness enveloped us as it was late at night, making it difficult to navigate, but we had to push through. My g
Nicolas “I am sorry.” The moment the doctor spoke those words, my already broken heart broke once more, but this time, the pain turned to fury. I fired on the ground before he had finished speaking to emphasize that quitting was not an option. He jumped, clearly frightened. “Let me finish, please. I’m sorry that I can’t assist you here. Her pulse is feeble and slow. We need to get her to the hospital right away,” the doctor stated. “What are you waiting for?” I yelled. They hurried to the stretcher on which Anaya was lying in the ambulance. Viler and I rushed after the stretcher. When the doctor attempted to prevent us from getting into the ambulance, we both pulled our weapons and instantly silenced him. We both climbed beside her. Viler had her hand in a tight grip. I winced when the doctor placed an IV in her other hand. Anaya remained still despite his best efforts to scrub her wounds. The doctor has called the hospital to request an operating room and for medical staff to be o
Anaya After Nicolas entered, I finally gave up my fight. He has arrived and will take care of everything. I could feel my blood draining and the abyss screaming my name. I was too exhausted to remain awake. My eyes began to droop and eventually sag. I could hear Nicolas and my father begging me to stay awake, but I was unable to. I gave in to the darkness, at last, believing I could now clearly see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully, I will have a better family on the other side. I wanted to snort at my thoughts. But everything slipped away, and I was reduced to nothingness. Suddenly, a kiss on my forehead brought me back to the light after some time. I had the impression that someone was tugging me towards them with the rope that was wrapped around my waist. My heart pounded in my chest. I could feel the tingles that sprang out throughout the kiss. Only one person can cause such a reaction in my body. Nicolas! He was near. However, everything soon started to drift away
Nicolas I slammed the door shut as soon as I entered my bedroom. My breath was ragged, and I was pacing back and forth to restrain my rage. I had been furious since Anaya mentioned my father back at Viler's house. Even if she has no idea what she’s talking about, it doesn’t make me feel any less angry; on the contrary, it makes me angrier. I hope I could make her understand why I did what I did, but I cannot. Even thinking about it makes me want to cut someone’s head off, and I have a few targets in mind to vent my rage at the moment. I don’t think the doctor would be able to save them if I tried that. So we move forward with the next logical choice. Gym. I slipped into my workout clothes and dashed to the gym. I tried lifting weights to block out the screaming of my loved ones, but when it didn’t work, I decided to run. The sweat streaming down my body made my clothing stick to my skin. The burning of my muscles and the heaviness of my breath made the ache in my chest burn brighter
Anaya I sigh as I recline on my bed. It’s been three weeks since I awoke in the hospital bed. And believe me when I say that this healing is a pain in the rear. Every time I try to move, the relentless ache and burn in my muscles caused me to hiss. And the fact that I move around a lot doesn’t help at all. The first week was the most challenging. Both Nicolas and my father made it their mission not to let me move my finger, not that I could move it, anyway. The most fantastic thing, though, would be my soup dates with Nicolas. He would come every evening and feed me soup and medicines, sleeping on the sofa next to my bed. My father would chase him away in the morning and sit next to me while we spoke about various topics. The following two weeks saw an improvement in my range of motion and the removal of certain bandages. Doctor Jane has allowed me to eat a few solid foods and move about a little, but with no stress. Nicolas was ecstatic and brought me some fruit, but my father didn
Nicolas Out of all the things Anaya could say, I did not expect her to say that. She told me a few weeks ago that she wanted to determine Alexy and Cole’s punishment. The other members of Alexy’s group were mine to torture and murder, just as I had done with the person who had tried to hurt her during the gala. I was not happy, but she had the right to do so. I assured her she would make the ultimate choice because they had made her suffer. However, suddenly things were different. After weeks of delaying talking about what happened in the building, she finally revealed to me what they did. She told me about being abducted from her home by Alexy and Cole and waking up in a pitch-black room. The way Alexy has recounted all of his unsuccessful ideas to her. She described to me how they imprisoned her without access to food or water, beat her every two hours, and humiliated her. Finally, she told me about how Alexy tried to force himself on her and how I protected her before anything te
Anaya I’ve never been more relieved to see myself walking again after a week of physical therapy. Two weeks ago, my cast finally came off, and let me tell you, it smelled like dog poop. I was relieved that Nicolas wasn’t there to see my itchy and hairy leg. He did, however, send his sister to inquire whether the doctor knew how to remove a plaster. I might have rolled my eyes if I wasn’t smiling at his words on the phone. We’ve established a comfy routine. Almost every night, he came to my house to visit me or, if he was busy, he would call to check on me. We texted or chatted on the phone about our days at night. I was hoping to walk tomorrow, and he chastised me for my lack of patience. Easy for him to say! I am the one who has been confined to bed for over a month. Every time he visited me, he would chase everyone who was seated next to me. As soon as he enters the room, he kicks off his shoes and climbs into bed. And we converse as he draws me to him. Goodnight kisses have becom
Nicolas “I like you, Nicolas,” Anaya said. My thoughts turned blank when she told me for the first time that she liked me. It was impossible for me to believe. After all the hardship I put her through. Yet, she likes me? My entire range of emotions—happiness, disbelief, excitement, and pain—came surging through me. My brain was filled with the tension of all those feelings, which frightened me. I went ahead and did the first thing that came to mind and left the room. When I entered my office, I left Anaya in that room, which made me feel guilty. I must, however, get my thoughts straight. I slumped into my chair but couldn’t sit still, so I looked out the window, but my mind was still foggy. I grabbed a bottle of whiskey and drank it straight from the bottle when I was unable to relax. Despite everything, I am certain of one thing: she likes me. But how? A few months ago, she was afraid of me. Can she be sure about what she feels, or is it just that she just feels like this after s
