Chapter 26

Eliana POV

I wished that the earth could open up and swallow me whole in that moment. Just imagining the ever so un-graceful picture of me scooting on my backside toward a tree, the skiis clattering together and making one hang of a ruckus while I struggled to hold the ski poles in one hand, all the while swearing at my best friend's father.

I guess, in retrospect, Georgio had seen Luca standing not far behind me and automatically assumed that he would help me, so I guess my cursing him wasn't overly appropriate.

“I'm surprised you ladies made it onto the slopes today. You were both rather… happy… last night,” he teased. “Is there any alcohol left in the house?”

I ignored the comment and grasped the tree, setting the poles down as I pulled myself up with both hands. I'd love to say that I redeemed myself, however the complete opposite was true. As soon as I got to my feet, the skis flew out on each side of the tree trunk and managed to interlock on the opposite side - effectively l
