04 •• Contract

|My Marriage Is A Contract- Craving The Girl He Always Wanted|

°Chapter Four°

•JENNY DARLINGTON•

Days after, I received an email and call from Stanley. I refused to pick up because I knew he wanted to threaten me about my kid and I did not have the heart to listen or yell at him.

I have been doing everything to get a new job and Johnny has surprisingly been helping me make it easy.

My phone vibrated against the work desk and I dropped Johnny to play with his toys. I checked the caller ID and saw that it was him. I swallowed lightly and contemplated picking it.

I picked it and placed it close to my ear. "My ears still hurt from the slap I got from you. Say whatever you want to say and get off my phone." I snapped at him.

He let out a snort. "I guess you are yet to check your email. I sent you a mail of my lawyer request on the custody of the kid. I told you that I was going to take custody of the kid and I am not bluffing. Check it and send the kid over." He said, his voice having the tone of satisfaction.

"I will not be sending my kid over to you. I will not have my kid with you. You cheated on me and you expect me to give you my kid, No way!" I yelled at him, not even knowing when the tears rolled out of my eyes.

"I will not give you my kid. My child! Get that! I don't care what your stupid lawyer wants, this kid is going to stay with me." I hissed.

He let out an incredulous chuckle. "And how are you going to do that? With your ass being fired? Oh, I guess you are going to start hooking up with some men. Jennifer, let me make it easier for you. Give me the kid and you can live your life as a single." He said.

I shook my head and wiped my lips. "Thank you for suggestion but we are going to meet in court. Stanley, I tell you, I won't have my kid with you and I will make you pay for what you did to me and my kid." I warned him and disconnected the call before he did.

My message alert beeped and I checked it. It was a laughing emoji from him and a hiss ripped through my lips. I tugged at my hair and slid down to the floor, and thought of ways to have Johnny to myself. There is absolutely nothing I can do. I am at the disadvantage here since I don't have any means of support for the kid.

Gosh, what can I do?!

I won't give him my kid. Never.

What can I do without Johnny? He was my motivation and the only drive I have to move on from this divorce. He was the only reason I was not running away.

A knock rapped on the door, I lifted my gaze up to the door and wished I had some powers to open the doot or to even see who was behind the door. I rose up my feet and ambled towards the door.

I pulled the door open and peeked out to see who it was. A hiss ripped through me as I opened the door fully.

"What is it you want?!" I snapped at him, anger seating through me and looking for an outlet.

He took a step further and arched his brow before he tilted to the side, looking at me.

"I asked a question. What do you want?" I bit out, glaring daggers at him.

He cleared his throat. "I… erm… I … I came to… erm… can I enter?" He asked, surprisingly.

"No." I gritted and was about to slam the door shut but he rushed forward and put his foot between the door. I lifted my gaze up to him and gave him a questioning look.

He pleaded with his eyes and I relaxed. I gulped softly and let him in. He gave me a small smile and stepped inside. He looked around and turned to me with pursed lips.

"This place looks nice." He commented.

I gave him a blank stare. "Just go ahead and say what you want to say." I told him bluntly.

He shook his with an easy smile. How easy for him to be able to smile.

He gestured to the chair, asking if he could sit. I looked away from him and took my seat. He smiled even more and sat down.

"Hey." He greeted Johnny who looked up to this stranger. He grinned at him and… what is his name again?

He smiled at him and turned to me again. "I said you should tell me why you are here." I said. He relaxed against the chair and twisted his lips.

"You need me." He said.

Did I hear right? He just said I need him.

When did I ask him for his help?

I narrowed my eyes on him and rose to my feet. "I don't need you. Get up and get out." I ordered him, pointing towards the door.

He raised his hand in a surrender motion. "Calm down, Jenny." He sighed.

I arched my brow. "How did you know my name?" I asked him.

"Who would not know his neighbor's name?" He lifted his shudders in a half shrug and I fixed my eyes on him.

"Back to what we were talking about…"

"You were talking about." I cut in and he gave me a 'really' look.

I sat down and waited for him to continue. "See, I want you to relax and listen to me. I know you are hot blooded now so listen." He said, waiting for me to give him a nod or something. I did nothing but watch him.

He shook his head and continued.

"You need me." He told me.

My eyes narrowed slightly at the way he was so sure.

"I don't," I said.

He arched his brow. "Jenny, you need me as much as I need you. I just want to help you and in return, you will be my wife for a year till I get my potential bride and by doing that, I will be able to get my mother off my neck." He said.

"First, how are you so sure that I need you? Second, why do I need me to be your bride? You could get someone else." I asked him, totally shocked at what he was saying.

He sighed. "You need me to be the father of your kid." He said and my eyes widened.

How did he…

He must have seen the question in my widened eyes. "I overheard you speaking on the phone and how you always yell about it." He clarified, his eyes drooping slightly.

"So you eavesdrop on me?" I asked him.

"Jennifer, don't deviate from the discussion. I will be the father of your kid in order to have custody of the kid. The court will have to award you the kid." He warned me.

I knew what he said was true and that I needed him.

"Okay, for just a year and I will be your wife?" I asked him, making up my mind. I have to get smarter than Stanley. He would take this child from me with no remorse. And I was not going to let that happen.

"Yes, just a year." He replied.

"And what is in it for me after custody of the kid?" I asked him.

"You can ask for anything." He said.

I stared at him for some time and looked away. "There should be rules."

"And there will be a contract." He added.

We shared an eye lock and relief washed through me. Stanley was not going to take my kid from me. Never. That alone is enough to have me smile. At least.
