Drunk

***Alpha Storm's POV***

I met her for the first time, crying her eyes out, at Pecan hospital. She's the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on, and yet, I knew this mate bind was a disaster way before I knew I had a mate.

Why? Why is someone so fragile? Her eyes are so mesmerizing that it took all the self-control in me not to pin her down to the wall and kiss her until she couldn't breathe anymore.

But then, when I realized my mission, I had to let her go. Still, I couldn't help but instruct my men to keep watch over her. She had no idea I was her mate, and that's because she's an omega wolf, which makes it even more ridiculous.

The next day, I asked my men about her, and they told me everything there is to know about my mate. Indeed, she was living a pathetic life. According to the prophecy, I need the help of a powerful Luna. She's nothing like a powerful Luna and definitely not the woman I seek, so why bother with her.

“Alpha, why aren't you sleeping? It's way past midnight.”

I raised my head up to Derek, who was staring at me with a suspicious gaze.

“You think I'll be able to sleep with the disease spreading all over the pack each day? You of all people know how much I've worked hard, the places I've been too just to find a cure.”

“You're forgetting the prophecy.”

I gritted my teeth and balled my fist silently.

“I'm not,” I replied in a whisper.

“Yes you are. If you think about the prophecy, then you'll realize that your redemption has been presented before you a long time ago.”

“My redemption?”

“Yes, you saw her at the hospital, didn't you? She's the hope of our pack.”

“She's not the hope of our pack. You want me to sacrifice her to cleanse my Pack from diseases. Can you actually do that to your mate if you were to be in my shoes?”

“I'm sorry, Alpha, I didn't mean to upset you. The fact that you found your mate is something to be happy about after years of searching.”

My beta was right. I searched for my mate ever since I turned 18, and even became desperate when I learned of the disease plaguing my pack. But now that I've seen her, my selfishness wouldn't let me take her as mine even though she was suffering.

At the same time, ever since I met her, my desire to see her again was killing me. I could barely sleep at night simply because I was thinking about her. I want her in my life not just as a sacrificial lamb, but as a woman. I want her in my bed. The feeling was driving me nuts.

When I learned she walks in a restaurant that pays her peanuts, I felt terrible, and then I did the most ridiculous thing. And that was to buy her. I sent someone close to the manager of the restaurant to negotiate a price she'll be okay with and buy her. The urge to have her was killing me and if this was the only way I can get to see her again, I was willing to take the risk.

When nightfall came that day, I decided to wait at a nearby club. Just in case she agrees, my thoughts were to have her that night and do the unthinkable the next day. I know she was going to hate me, but it's better this way.

While I was waiting for the results, I sipped my wine slowly. When I realized that the bargain was taking longer than I had thought, I stretched out my hand to look at the time, and to my surprise, it was 7:30pm.

What the hell? Could it be that she didn't want the money? I can't think of a reason as to why I haven't gotten any news yet.

I quickly took out my phone from my pants pocket, and just as I was about dialing the number of the man I sent, I saw no one else but her walk into the club. I paused and stared at her as she walked over to the bar area to request for a drink.

Was she saying yes? Did she come to me on her own to make the bargain herself? I waited patiently to see what she was up to. To my utmost surprise, she was rather drinking herself away.

I watched her for an hour, and then it dawned on me that she was actually in a sober mood.

What could have happened? Did she not like the idea? While I was wallowing in my thoughts, I suddenly got a call on my phone. I quickly picked up, only to realize that it was a call from the guy I was about calling earlier.

"Yes,” I replied after taking the call.

“Alpha, I'm so sorry about this, but I don't think we'll be able to get what we wanted.”

“What? Why?”

“According to the manager, she refused.”

Shit! I quickly dropped the call and took my gaze towards her direction. She was still drinking herself away. I do not wish to see her this way. If she's going to be like this, then I might as well take my chances.

I quickly got up from my chair and approached the bar where she sat. As soon as I got there, I requested a drink. She must have heard my voice, seeing how she took her gaze up at me.

“Hey, we, meet again.”

I said to her, she arched her brow, as if trying to recall where she had met me.

“So, you're the man with the purple eyes,* she stated with a smile that exposed a perfect set of white teeth which are properly arranged.

How can she be this beautiful? What am I supposed to do when she looks like this? Her eyes are bright and beautiful, her hair is so smooth and silky, and I could perceive the shampoo on her hair, which was neatly tied up in a ponytail. The urge to take off the ribbon on her hair and let it dangle freely, like it did the first day I met, made me get up from my chair. I need to control myself now.

“Uhm, why don't we go over there and have a chitchat. I really am keen to know more about you, if you don't mind.”

“Oh, I don't mind at all,” she replied with a grin. No doubt, she's quite drunk, but not enough to carry out what I want. I led the way while she followed me while missing a step and two.
