Chapter 2 New Beginning

Arheana's Pov

   Maria gave the address of my apartment to the driver as the car drove on the road. We live in separated place here in New York as I want to live alone and to be independent. As for Maria’s case, his brother is currently working here as a manager in a pub . He let Maria come with me here in city but in one condition and that is Maria needs to live with him in his place to assure my best friends safety. They both asked me to live with them but I politely declined their offer to me. I want to have my privacy and I want them to bond as siblings alone. They separated for almost 3 years now. So I want them to have their private time and I don't want to be misundertand by her brother's faincee if I will live with them. They accepted my decision and we can see each other anytime we want. 

    After an hour and a half of drive, we reached  the building of my apartment ,my new home...New York. Yes...I’m finally home. It’s been 16 years since I left.

  “I’m home El. Do you still remember me?” I whispered to myself sadness crossed in my eyes.

  “Arheana, don’t forget to call me.” Maria told me. I nodded at her as an answer before getting off the car. The driver helped me on my luggage. I walked towards the passenger side of the cab to hug Maria before I bid her goodbye for the day.

  “I will call you once I settled my luggage in my new place, take care.” I kissed her on her right cheek.

  “ Don’t forget about the job we discussed. Give it a try okay?” She remembered it. I nod to her.

  After bidding goodbye’s the cab take off on the road. I walked inside the building to look for the landlady. After seeing the landlady at the first floor, we talked about the contract and she gave me the key and my door number for my apartment. I take the stairs to go up on the third floor where my new place is located. Well for a small building like this they don’t have elevator not like those luxury condominiums which I can’t afford on my current situation. I take 5 minutes of climbing the stairs up to the third floor because of my high heeled boots plus me carrying my luggage. As soon as I reached the front of my door I insert my key to its keyhole and opened it.

   Well my apartment consist of a living room which is painted in white it has a three sitter sofa with a mini glass table and 32” LED television hanged on the  wall. On the left side of my living room is my cute mini kitchen it is also  painted in white and combined with woody color of the chairs, dining tables and cabinets. The dining table placed in the center of the kitchen. There’s two doors on the right side of the refrigerator one is for the bathroom and the other one is for the lavatory area.

   At the right side of my living room is my bedroom it’s also painted in white and combined with plain brown carpeted floor. My bed is a twin sized bed at the right side of the bed is the window and on its left side is the side table with a lamp shade on top of it. There’s two doors inside of my bedroom one for my built in closet and the other one is my personal bathroom which has a bathtub and shower. My apartment is good for someone who lives alone just like me.

  After inspecting my new place, I brought my luggage inside of my bedroom and took out my clothes and other stuffs to arranged in my built in cabinet. After arranging everything, I searched for my shoulder bag as I remember to give Maria a call and to check for her. While searching for my phone inside of my bag I saw the folded newspaper and took it out. I scanned the job post and think about it. I’ve decided to check my calendar to see the date and I just got shocked as I saw that today is Tuesday and tomorrow is the day for the interview. As I got my phone I dialled the number  to make a call to the company of THE EL.

   After three rings a woman’s voiced answered my call.

 “Hello, this is THE EL company! I’m Rose from front desk. How may I help you?” As the receptionist greets me on the other line.

  “Oh hi! I’m Arheana Romano. I want to ask if there’s still a slot for the interview tomorrow?” I asked while my heart beats so fast as I got nervous.

  “Yes Miss Romano, we still have two slots for the interview. Do you want me to reserve one for you?” She asked me in a friendly tone.

 I smiled. “Really? Please do reserved me one slot for the interview.” Thinking that I can have a chance to go for the interview I can’t help myself not to smile happily.

  “ Okay Miss Romano. I will reserve one for you. Be here at 7 in the morning.”

   “ Okay, thank you so much.” Before I pressed the call end button she called for me.

  “ Oh! Wait Miss Romano, can you kindly bring your resume here now. We need to send your resume at the Human Resources for the line up for the interview tomorrow.”

  “ Okay Miss , I’m going there right now. Thank you so much.” After we ended our conversation. I took my key and resume before taking the step down the stairs. I call a cab and give the address of thee company.

  This is the new beginning of my life as an independent person away from my parents.
