Chapter 4

"Gosh! I can't believe I am going to Damian’s house,” Stephanie bugged my ear continuously, she has been to her room and mine; over and over- and almost pulling the house down for the perfect dress to wear.

She finally settled for a blue cocktail dress with a long V neck that showed her cleavage and bare back. She was blazing hot. She paired it with a shimmery white stiletto and bag. “Gorgeous” was the word to describe her.

I thought had about what to wear, when Linda suggested that I wore the same thing- since we had almost everything but in different colors.

I thought hard and long about it. I wore the red version of the dress. Linda helped me apply light makeup on my face.

After a while, Dad returned from work to convey us to the Delance’ mansion.

My heart rammed quickly on its own. Bam Bam Bam!

We sat with Dad in the back seat as Eric drove us into

the Delance’s estate. Eric is Dad’s driver. Idris is mine, and Nathaniel is Stephanie’s.

“Oh, my God! This is paradise!” Stephanie exclaimed immediately.

Eric drove into the black gate which had so many securities around and we entered into the Delance’s

mansion.

“Oh, goodness! This is more than a mansion. It's incredible. Heavenly.” Stephanie couldn't help but talk in awe “No wonder the Delance mansion was the talk of the city last year,”

The party was taking place in the open air, and we both alighted from the car with Dad. I aopened my mouth in bemusement as I looked around the mansion. The exterior was looking this great. I could imagine how the inside was.

Wow!

“Mr Wright!” a voice called my Dad’s name as we approached the party.

It was Damian’s mum.

"Mrs Delance!" Dad called and they shook hands. Damian’s mum was looking so stunning.

"I am glad you made it, my husband will be so excited to see you," she said and stared at Stephanie and I.

"Oh, my! Are these your daughters, the twin I once carried some years ago?" she asked, marveled.

“Yes, meet Stephanie and Sarah. They are my daughters,” Dad answered

“Goodness, gracious. They are so grown. They have blossomed into well sophisticated elegant ladies. I hope Damian ends up with either of them,” she smiled

Dad only smiled tightly. Stephanie blushed, twirling her hair. I simply looked away.

“Alright, let me take you to my husband,” she said and took Dad away, not before he muttered “You two be safe, and Stephanie don't leave your sister for a second. I'll be back!”

"Oh! Of course" Stephanie giggled mischievously and took a drink from a waiter’s tray. She gulped it and told me “Catch ya, baby sister. I am off to find my prince charming,”

I stamped my feet frustratedly. I knew she was going to do that. I guess I’m too boring for her company.

Argh. Dad and Stephanie left me alone.

The party was buzzing as lots of dignitaries filled the place— I walked to a table which was empty and took a seat. There was drinks on the table and I took a glass of wine to calm my nerves.

Where is the celebrant, anyways? Shouldn't he be on sight?

My phone started ringing and I brought it out from my purse. It was Zara.

"Hey babe!" she said immediately. I heard her clearly because sound of the music playing from the party wasn't so high. It was rather soothing.

"Hey" I answered slowly.

"Oh, my God! You're at the party, right? I knew your Dad was going to be invited. So, tell me; how is it going? Have you seen Damian?" She said excitedly and I snorted.

"Not yet," I replied, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Why? Please, let me know when you see him. We should do a video call, and don't forget to take pictures, okay? Bye" she said, ending the call quickly.

Oh heavens! Why are the two important girls in my life obsessed with Damian? Argh.

I sighed and drank from my glass again. What a boring party. Maybe it's because there's no one to talk to. I looked around and my eyes met with a group of girls, they scowled at me.

I have seen Damian’s mum, but not the Dad or his siblings, yet. Maybe his siblings didn't want to attend the party, since they're not on good terms.

Or maybe they're here. I wouldn’t even know them.

I took my phone and started playing games with it. A waitress passed by with cupcakes and fruit juice, I took some from her.

I ate with relishment and played with my phone. I looked up to see Dad and a replica of Damian, more like the older version of Damian. I figured it was Mr Delance’s.

Finally! Dad is done, and we can go home. It was a boring party anyway. I noted that Stephanie was still nowhere in sight.

Just then I noticed Mr Delance’s detachment from my dad, and went to detach Damian from some girls. When did the celebrant come that I didn’t know? Had he been around for long?

Mr Delance spoke something into his ear, and Damian excused himself from the girls and followed his Dad.

My Dad seemed to be waiting for them, as I waved to him and he gestured to me to be calm— to say that he was coming.

My Dad, Mr Delance and Damian started coming towards me. My eyes zeroed in shock. I looked at Dad to get an incling as to what was happening or something. His face held nothing but pride.

My feet shuffled in anxiety. Why are they coming towards me? Where is Stephanie? She should be here as well.

“I want you to meet Mr Wright’s daughters,” I heard Mr Delance tell Damian on a close earshot

“Sarah, meet the Delance’s” my Dad said when they got to me.

I nervously went to my Dad’s sides as he made the introductions. I could feel Damian’s eyes steadily on me.

“Its so nice to finally meet you sir,” I said to Mr Delance with a bow.

He chuckled and patted my hand. “Its also nice to meet a beautiful prim and proper lady, Sarah.” Mr Delance said, then he turned to looked around us “I thought your second daughter is around?” he asked

My Dad shuffled his feet nervously “Ah, of course yet. She is— I guess she went to…” he looked at me for help

“She went to meet some friends,” I completed the sentence. My Dad sighed in relief.

“Okay, maybe some other time then.” Mr Delance nodded, before turning to look at his quiet and stiff-necked son “Son, meet Sarah. I have heard so many positive things about her. I would like you both to really know each other well,”

Should we really know each other?

Damian forced a smile. I bet he didn't fancy me like other girls. Well, the feeling is mutual. I do not like him either.

“Hello,” he grunted, and I almost laughed at the sound of it. It sounded like someone who wanted to fart.

Oh geez! I feel so mean, right now.

Damian’s eyebrows furrowed at my chuckle. I didn't realize that in a bid to stifle my laughter, I had chuckled loudly.

“Hello Damian,” I composed myself and accepted his handshake.

“Beautiful.” I heard his Dad mutter with mischief, “who knows you two may just end getting married,”

Our fathers smiled sheepishly, sharing knowing looks.

Wait— what????
