When James moves his head back, my eyes immediately drop to his lips and I take a big gulp before I throw my head to the side and mutter, "No."

"What?" I hear him say and I lift my gaze to him. "I said no. Let go, James."

His hands drop from the refrigerator, incredulity clear in his eyes as he takes two steps back. "You’re serious? You don’t want me to touch you or–"

"I already gave you an answer the last time we had this conversation." His expression shifts from disbelief to annoyance and I can’t tell if it’s because I brought up what happened last time or he can’t believe I just refused him. Whichever it is, I don’t feel good either.

I blink and push my body forward. "I’ll be in my room."

James doesn’t give a response and I take that as my cue to leave, only for my wrist to be grasped, halting me. He speaks without turning me. "Why? I know you’re mad I kissed Janet, but I told you–"

"You can do whatever you want with Janet, James. I don’t care." I snatch my wrist f
