A startling discovery

I finished early, washed my hands and put on my clothes, trying to look as presentable as I could. Chrys mentioned how dirty and smelly I was yesterday, so I had to take extra care to make sure I was careful with my clothes. And looking nice is part of it.

My fellow workers watched me without saying a word. The expression in their eyes as they watched me said it all. They all know how snappy I am, making it difficult for any of them to approach me, fearing they might be at the other end of my anger.

And let's not forget that I'm the only worker who leaves early. I don't even wait until 5 because I'm always eager to get home to Chrys, who might be waiting for my return.

I slung my bag on my back and turned to leave. The other workers watched me leave without saying a word, and I know the silence would be broken the moment I leave. They will undoubtedly talk about me all day until they get tired of gossiping.
