Tailing him

I have this bad feeling that refused to let go. It stuck to me like a leech and no matter how much I tried to put the feeling away, it was just impossible. I feel Gordon never believed the lies which I told him. I had this hunch that he knew I was concealing something that he had been seeking for a very long time, and there was no doubt he couldn't wait to find out what it was.

I sat absent-mindedly at dinner, staring into space, oblivious of the things going on around me. The clink of glasses, and the maid walking around, serving.

None of that caught my attention, I was instead more focused on the bigger picture. With one last glance in Gordon's way, sighed, aware that I needed to act as naturally as I could.

I settled for dinner, my eyes catching the fine plates gleaning under the soft, dim light of the room. Somewhere in my subconscious mind, the thought continued to gnaw at me. Claudia, the new maid, moved around the dining room. I noted how her attention was solely focu
