CHAPTER 40: MORE NEWS

KATIE’S POV

As I walked through the revolving doors, feeling lightheaded, I was at least glad I wasn't walking like a ghost. In the end, I managed to get a little sleep.

Counting sheep did work to calm down my nerves, but it was broken up by a nightmare that only lasted for a little while, so I didn't remember it much, but it was scary while it lasted. I didn't get much sleep after that, and before long, it was morning.

I could feel their gazes trying to penetrate my skin, making me wonder if they knew about Maverick.
