CHAPTER 61: WHEN THE MAN YOU LOVE

KATIE’S POV

"Standing idle, are we?" Milicent muttered as she walked towards me, wiping her hands against her apron. That was something she liked to do, even though there was never anything to wipe off.

"Everyone is already settled," I told her, eyes moving over the space of the bar I now worked at. So far, I haven't seen anyone walk through the door, so I figured I could take a little break.

The job wasn't stressful for me; naturally, I would be buzzing around, but the pregnancy was making me tired more than usual. Still, I was at least grateful for the chance to work here.

I hadn't told my employer about my pregnancy, and I was scared that if I did, he would not fire me. No one would employ someone like me because I would take an extended break after just months of work, leaving him to find someone else to substitute. They would instead get someone who would stay much longer without interruption.

So far, it was just the doctor that knew of my pregnancy. It wasn't something I wanted
