Nora didn't see Silvia as just her sister-in-law. She viewed Silvia as a close friend, and would tell Silvia secrets she normally wouldn't talk to others about.

Silvia felt rather close to Nora as well. As an only child, she genuinely loved and cared for Nora, and treated the latter like her actual sister after she married into the Pierce family.

Hence, it was hard for Silvia to not feel sad after hearing Nora's question. She comforted the young girl gently, saying, "As long as you're okay with it, I’ll always be your sister and a good friend to you."

Nora choked on her tears, unable to say anything further.

In the end, Silvia sighed and bid her goodbyes before hanging up. She was also quite worried she might start crying after hearing Nora's sobs.

Silvia found the whole situation ironic, seeing just how upset Nora was about their separation. It was absurd that the man she had spent five years with didn't seem to be affected at all.
