Chapter 52 – A Talk with Onyx

We have made it to the end of the driveway when he catches up. “Briar, please stop.” He pleads. I do as he requests and keep my head down as I turn around. “Briar, look at me.” He begs, and I lift my eyes to meet his. “I didn’t mean. Briar I.” He stutters out. “Please just handle the situation and make sure my parents are ok,” I request softly.

Onyx steps toward me, and instinctively I step away from him. “Briar.” He breathes my name painfully. “I am going back to the hotel.” I lower my head and turn around once again. “Can we talk about this when I get back?” He asks softly. “Yes, Onyx. We will talk when you get back.” I weep. “Please, let me hold you for a moment.” “My parents are around. It is not a good idea.” I state without turning around. “Ok, I will be back soon. Matt, please ensure she is safe.” He says before I start walking again.

We make it back into town when I look at Matt. “Do you mind if we swing into the store?” I ask him.
