Chapter 2

"Do you know them?" Dante asked Dae in an emotionless tone reading papers of business.

"No, I don't. " Dae answered. "The big man came to get the little one and they wanted to give me some...companion."

"Fine. Do you like it, the companion?"

"..."

Without having an answer, Dante didn't ask more and continued to mind his own business. The little Dae looked out the window counting the raindrops. It seemed that he was enjoying more the silence.

One could hardly tell that the conversation takes place between a father and a son. But it is the fact. Dante, although he is not some successful businessman you would see photos on the magazines or the internet, is still considered to be one of the most potential young entrepreneurs in the city because not many could achieve what he has done at such an early age.

He is always a hard-working one when he was in school. But little do the others know that he devoted himself to his studies because of the chaos in his family. His mother, the woman he would never like to see again, abandoned his father and him for a richer man. Thus, life became very hard for a teenage boy to bear all the rumors in school and to endure the incomplete love from the family.

Luckily, all his effort paid off, and he becomes the owner of a well-known hotel that is famous for its standardized service. Though someone may have complained about the lack of vitality.

However, something unexpected hit Dante when one day, a woman came to his door with a child claiming that he was his father. There was no way that Dante would admit it because he didn't believe in women anymore when his mother left, not to mention the pure pleasure from fresh. But the DNA test left him speechless. The woman asked for quite a lot of money and left without any hesitation, she was soon gone again as if she never appeared.

If it wasn't because of the child standing lively in front of him, Dante would consider all this as a dream, a nightmare. He tried to figure out how he and the woman had the child but all he got was the answer of a drunken night.

In the end, Dante accepted the boy. Maybe because he saw himself in the boy who was also left by his mother. He named the boy Dae, which is the only thing he got when he asked.

Dae is taken good care of, of course, on the material level. No one knows if he really understands what happened and if he considers Dante as his dad, yet no one could blame him. Thus, you can always find the awkward atmosphere between these two, where in most cases, only exists the silence.

Dante opened the files and began to go through the resumes. Just when he opened a new one and saw the photo of the young candidate, his expression slightly changed with a rise of the eyebrow.

"Nino...."
