164NATHANIEL/Scott POVIt felt so good to actually return here to strike fear in their hearts again. The look on Claire's face was priceless. "Where have you been, Nathaniel? I've been worried suck all these days that what might have happened to you." Luna Lisa said in concern as she led me toward my room. That was surprising. Despite all Alex's move to trace all my steps and future steps, he didn't say a word to Mother about it. I had already half-expected him to make me the bad person that I was before Mother so that she would switch to loving him alone. He must be really trying to play his game right, but it was only giving me chances. Mother pushed the door to my room open and led me in, and it was just how I remembered it. "I'm shocked Alex didn't tell you where I've been since all these days," I said, and she looked up at me with a confused expression. "Alex knew where you've been?" She asked with a frown. "Yes, he did know where I was. Didn't you ask him?" I asked as I sto
ALEX'S POVClaire shouldn't stay alone unguarded because of Nathaniel. I couldn't really focus on work because Nathaniel was in the same building as me. I soon stepped out of the study and then I saw him shutting the door to my room sneakily and a frown made its way up my lips. I watched as he left the door towards the main lounge and I hurriedly walked into my room to check up on Claire. She was sleeping on the bed peacefully like a baby. I walked over to her and planted a kiss on her forehead and cheeks before heading out of the room to follow Nathaniel. He isn't to be trusted at all. I slowly followed him as he went into the woods. Luckily, he didn't notice my presence at all. He was mysterious but what exactly was he looking for in the woods by this time? I watched him stop and look back before entering the free part of the woods where a man was sitting, smoking. As soon as he saw Nathaniel, he stood up and I wasn't quiet surprised it was Ivan. He just confirmed my suspicions that
CLAIRE'S POVI didn't know what exactly was wrong with Luna Lisa, but she didn't sound like herself at all. She had never been angry at me before, so I didn't know what I did for her to act like that. I looked around my room to search for what to take along to Alex's room. We didn't know how long Nathaniel would spend here, but the way he looked at me devilishly was enough to make me scared if I wasn't before. I pulled open my wardrobe to pick some important things and then around my room. Everything contained a cardboard box, which was enough for me. As I pulled open the balcony door, I could hear Luna's voice from the passageway, and I rushed out, so as to apologize to her if I did anything wrong. As I got there, I ran straight into her. "Luna. I wanted to apologize to you if I did anything wrong…""No need for you to apologize. I apologize for yelling at you, but right now, I need some space, please." She said, and before I could utter another word, she left my sight. Then I fel
CLAIREI didn't bother to ask him what he wanted or why he was in my room. Whatever the case might be, I knew Nathaniel was not a man who should be trusted on any level at all. Heck, the man had done nothing but proved that he was the demon's spawn for a while now. It would be suicidal to try and reason with him. So, I just did the next best thing that came to my mind.I screamed my lungs out. Or rather, I tried to scream my lungs out. The man was in front of me before I even opened my mouth, and his hand clasped my mouth shut, effectively preventing me from doing what I aimed."Bitch!" He yelled at me. "You think you can make me lose by calling your boyfriend out here? I'll just make you pay for that misconception." He sneered at me, and I cringed.Fuck! My body became weak as my brain zeroed in on his words, especially that part about making me pay for everything. Or was it about me screaming? I didn't know, and I didn't want to know. All I was after was making sure that I was safe.
CLAIRE I couldn't imagine it. Nope, I refused to imagine it. The kind of pain and trauma Alex must be going through just seeing as their mother - someone who was supposed to be neutral between the two people - had taken the side of just a child. Not just any child, but the child who was the prodigal son if we were to think about it well. The hurt that must have been going on in his heart was one that would have never settled in my mind if I was in his shoes now."I'm sorry." The words slipped out of my mouth before I could even stop it. And indeed, I was sorry. I felt that the fault of the attack was partly my fault. If I hadn't been so careless and allowed the man to gain access to me, Alex would not have felt the urge to pick a fight with him. Then, Luna Lisa would not have taken the side of his brother so blatantly to hurt Alex like that."You don't have to be sorry." He said to me. I looked up at him in shock, and he shrugged at me. "I am not feeling sorry for myself, so why shou
Claire's POV The next day, I was forced to eat breakfast on my own as none of the family members were available to be seen in the dining room. I understood their plight each, except for Nathaniel, though. Or maybe I didn't understand the plight of either of them except Alex, whom I was sure was hurting from the actions of his people, especially his mother. How could the woman force her son into a corner like that? Was she not supposed to be neutral when it came to her two sons? She was not supposed to show one affection while ignoring the other! No matter what her excuses were, she shouldn't have forgotten that it was the two of them who were facing hard times during this season. So, how could she pick a side?Just thinking about the incident the previous day brought my anger again, making me boil. It was so much that I was sure that I would murder somebody if I laid my eyes on them. That somebody was notorious Nathaniel. Maybe get angry at Luna Lisa also for her reckless behaviour.
Claire's POV The hand I had on the button I was trying to loosen up collapsed and fell to my sides. I turned to look at Luna Lisa and saw the sadness on her face."Something is wrong with Nathaniel." She repeated.I was dumbfounded and didn't even know what to say as a reply to her words. I couldn't help but wonder what she saw that made her say such a word to me. And if she knew that something was going on with her son, why did she support him last night when the issue between him and Alex happened?"I'm scared." The woman said to me, shaking slightly as she said those words. "So, I need someone to talk to." Her eyes were pleading at me to please understand her plight.I bit my lower lip, realizing that she must have caught on to something despite Alex not wanting her to find out about the man Nathaniel had turned into. Speaking of which, wouldn't it be better to get Alex to be a part of this discussion? If there was any explaining to d
Nathaniel/Scott's POV Never what I expected when I took the body of this weakling. How dare him be so weak like this? If not for his weakness, I would have gotten a scar or two to his mother's body to show her that I really meant what I said when I told her not to let the secrets I spilled out of anger out to anyone. No one was allowed to know what my plan was.But what did this woman do? She went ahead to go and talked to Evie? I snarled as I saw her walking out of the room I forbade her from entering. I knew she didn't go there to talk to Alex since the man was still at the living room, but I saw Claire when she came in, so I knew Luna Lisa went there to spill the secret to her. I should make her pay for disobeying me.I hissed as I saw her walking out of the room from the corner where I hid. I waited for her to get to the corner before dragging her into the dark by her arm. She opened her mouth to scream, but I had already anticipate
