The resounding echo of Bianca's palm meeting my cheek reverberated through the room, a jolt that snapped me back to reality. In that moment, I knew I couldn't let her assault go unanswered. I couldn't allow myself to be seen as a fool, losing the respect of everyone present. I needed to do something, anything, to change the narrative. With a surge of determination, I mustered the courage to strike back, but to my astonishment, she deftly evaded my retaliation, as if she had anticipated my every move.

"How dare you think you can strike me and simply walk away unscathed?" Her voice dripped with disdain, a warning laced with a challenge. "Consider your options carefully. Do you honestly believe the odds are in your favor right now?"

As I surveyed the room, I could feel the weight of their disgusted gazes, not a single soul standing by my side. Even Ruth, usually a steadfast ally, averted her eyes, pretending to be engrossed elsewhere. It was crystal clear that I was alone in this battle.
