Chap 53

After a fitful night's sleep, I woke up to the events of the previous day playing around my head. The unfairness of it all hit differently this time. I thought of Dante. Maybe his brain had been addled by the events of the last few days. Did he seriously expect me to voluntarily stay in his pack forever? If he did, then his expectations of me were laughable. I dressed quickly and opened the door.

At first, I did not see anybody, but then I looked to my right and saw Lucius standing there. There were two other guards in the corridor but they were a few paces away. It seemed it was Lucius' turn to stand guard outside my door.

As soon as he heard the door open, he shifted slightly, blocking the exit with his body. I scowled but said nothing and attempted to go out through the little space I saw. It was too small for me to pass through. I stopped trying and glared at him.

"Good morning, Luna," he said, not quite meeting my eyes.

"Move," I ordered.

He grimaced and scratched the back
