Tranquillity

Chris didn’t know when he dozed off but was woken up by the footsteps outside their room even though they were barely audible. He too was a light sleeper like most people in trained in martial arts and didn’t give a damm about who he offended. He turned his gaze towards his sleeping beauty to see that she was still sleeping soundly, and nothing was out of place other than the bandage on the face and the pale complexion.

As the footsteps got closer, Chris recognised the owners of the footsteps and hurriedly closed his eyes. In his defence, he didn’t want to be killed as soon as he woke up especially not since his wife and kids were well. He feigned to be unconscious forgetting that his best friend was not only the best doctor there was but also someone who knew him like the back of his hand.

Neil did a quick check on Emile to make sure that she was recovering well before turning to Chris while Adrian stood by the door with a face full of schadenfreude.
