Chapter 1

 *Janice Pov*

I woke up suddenly hearing the pounding on my door. I groaned, feeling complete disappointment because my dream was getting better, but this just disturbed it.

“I am coming!” I mumbled and opened the door yawning.

“Janice! There is an emergency.” He said, staring at me.

“What happened?” I asked him in shock.

“Murder is going on Janice.” He replied and pointed downstairs.

“Huh?” I said not understanding at all.

“Mom is cutting the bread into slices. She is murdering the bread, and you are sleeping here. How irresponsible you are Janice?” He said, shaking his head in disappointment.

“You are dead, Benjamin.” I shouted and started hitting him.

“It’s Ben.” He said and tried not to get hit by me.

“Janice! Ben! Come downstairs and have some breakfast.” I heard Mom calling us.

“I hate you.” I said hitting his shoulder and walked back inside my room to get ready.

“I know you love me, little sister.” He shouted and walked away.

That I do! He is such a good brother I could ever have except at these times where he tries to prank on me but only with words.

After getting ready, I walked downstairs to see complete silence filled dining table. My brother sighed in relief when he saw me.

“So do you need to go to college today?” he asked smirking.

“Yes!” I replied, glaring at him, even after he knows why it is important.

“College is over, right?” Mom asked, frowning at me.

“We all students decided to meet once at the college itself and spend time with no worries.” I replied.

“Ok! And did you plan what will you do now?” Dad asked.

“Dad! She just got graduated. Let her enjoy her holidays.” Brother replied before I can say anything.

“I want to be a lecturer.” I said shrugging.

“Perfect profession for you Janice! As spectacles are already there only a stick is missing in your hand. And you really talk only about subjects all the time, so it is perfect.” He said, glancing at Mom and Dad, and I stopped myself from smiling.

“Fine! You can choose it, and Ben is enough for the business I guess.” Dad said after a few minutes, and I stopped myself from giving a grin.

“Ok Dad.” I mumbled, and we both got up while Mom and Dad continued to talk.

“You are such a sweet brother. I got really scared he will not accept it, but you did it.” I said hugging him.

“You need to help me too.” He said in a serious tone.

“About what?” I asked him frowning.

“Next week, I will bring her here, and you need to be on my side making them accept us.” He replied.

“Of course I will do anything for Abby.” I said smiling.

“Really? She became more important than your brother?” He asked frowning.

“Don’t sulk, Bro! Now let me go to college.” I said, taking my purse and the books I need to return to the library.

“All the best.” He said grinning.

“I just need little confidence.” I said, taking a deep breath and left the house.

I walked outside and saw him already driving away from his home. Don’t worry Janice! Everything will be fine.

Oh Jesus! I know I am taking advantage of a situation here, but what can I do. He is now single and doesn't have any girlfriend hanging on his arm and mainly that Parul Mitra.

I don’t have any other chance than this. I need to tell him about my crush otherwise I will never be able to.

I talked to god inside and reached the college within minutes as it is very near to our house.

I glanced around and then saw him standing with his friends. He is such a cute guy, and everyone dies for him.

My David Silva! My first crush on my first day of college. And to top off that he became our neighbor as they shifted here before the college started.

The first year I couldn’t bring myself to even say anything thinking he will think badly and then later he got his girlfriend here Parul.

Parul is the hottest girl in the college, and all the boys are behind her, but she chose David.

But they both were like on and off a couple. They get into fights for silly things and then again, get together feeling jealous when any one of them started dating some other.

Such a weird thing to do, but who am I to tell anything. I never had any boyfriend or have anyone to show interest in me.

For the past few months, they are separate, and I think this is my final chance. I took a deep breath and started walking towards him not wanting to look at anyone else.

However, stopped in my tracks when I saw Parul walking towards him and they both were cozy. This is not fair, David! I thought and slowly the feeling of crush left.

I turned to go, but got collided with someone. My books fell down and I immediately bent to pick them up.

The guy too helped me, and we finally said, “I am sorry.”

“No! I should have seen.” I said, getting up.

“Even I should have seen.” He said looking behind me but not at me.

“Janice! Janice Britto.” I said forwarding my hand.

“Adithya! Adithya Sinha.” He said shaking my hand.

*Adithya Pov*

“No, Dad!” I said for the hundredth time.

“But Adithya, this is our family business, and you need to take care of it.” He said frowning.

“The business world is not for me. My cousins are doing good work so pass it down to them, and they are also our family right.” I said getting up.

“But...” he started to say, and I cut him off saying, “I will do something which I want to. I will tell you soon what it is but for now it is a secret.”

“Mom! I am leaving.” I said walking outside.

I took my bike and reached the college as soon as possible. Today I need to say to her that I like her.

She used to be my best friend in Intermediate but stopped when we joined here. Is it just because I am not popular in the college?

Nonetheless, she called me a few days back, and we talked like before. Maybe she too misses me, and this is my chance to say to her about my feelings.

I reached the college and started searching for her, but I couldn’t see Parul anywhere. So I decided to ask her friends who are standing with that David.

Nevertheless, stopped in my tracks when I saw her walking towards him and look like they both are together again.

I sighed and rubbed my forehead and started walking, but suddenly collided with someone.

I helped her to retrieve her books, and we both said “I am sorry.”

“No! I should have seen.” She said getting up.

“Even I should have seen.” I said and looked behind her to see both David and Parul hugging.

“Janice! Janice Britto.” She said forwarding her hand.

“Adithya! Adithya Sinha.” I said and shook her hand.

“Nice to meet you.” We both said at a time but didn’t laugh.

We both nodded and walked away in our different directions. I think it is time for me to forget about Parul.
