Chapter 12: Some Brotherly Conversations:
Knight’s P.O.V:
I took a closer look at the bouquet of bright pink carnations in my hand and debated on the color choice I’d made. Red would’ve been too bold, too demanding, and I didn’t want Elena to feel trapped. Pink was the better choice and since the industrially bread carnations no longer have any scent in them, it was safe for Elena to keep it in her room…if it didn’t get flung at my face or the trash can, right after I handed them over.
So I held the bouquet in my right hand and a large box of dark chocolates on my left; rang the door bell and stood quietly with my heart in the pit of my stomach. What I wasn’t expecting however, was a tall man with silver blonde hair and violet eyes, opening the door to Elena’s apartment.
“I’m sorry; I must have gotten the wrong address.” I told the older man and backed awa
Chapter 13: Decisions and Promises:Elena’s P.O.V:“Are you alright?” Knight got up from his seat after Leo went out the door and came to stand in front of me. “You look a bit pale.”I shook my head at him. “I’m fine.”“How are you feeling today? You should really lie down for some time.” Knight said with genuine concern. In fact, I was feeling a bit tired, but going back inside the bedroom with Knight was a big no-no. It was far too soon for that. “I’ll just have a seat on the couch.” I told him instead.Once I was seated, I motioned for Knight to take his seat as well. Instead of taking his previous seat the couch opposite mine, he took a seat at the foot of my couch and much to my astonishment, took my feet into his lap and started giving them a massage. I closed my eyes and leaned back on the couch, almost moaning at how
Chapter 14: New EncountersElena’s P.O.V:“So you’re agreeing to move in with him?” Risa asked as she demolished an entire cinnamon roll in one bite.I cringed, trying my best not to gag at her antics and took a sip of my cappuccino. Apparently, my baby wants me to get fatter by the hour. “I haven’t decided on anything. Knight Tyson might be the CEO of one of the biggest textile companies in the country, but he’ll need to try a lot harder if he wants me to move in with him.”“And it’s not like he’s doing all this out of love, either.” Risa said once she’d washed down her cinnamon roll with coffee. “He’s after the baby, the heir to his empire.”“I know that and that’s exactly why I don’t trust him.” I shook my head. “First he comes into the dressing room and pounces on me, trying to blackmail
Chapter 15: Improvements and then… Knight’s P.O.V: Four days later, I was back at Elena’s doorstep, carnations, this time in pink, and a box of dark chocolates in hand, hoping that this time, I’ll be able to make some progress with her. “Knight. Come in.” Elena opened the door without hesitation. “You didn’t tell me you-“ “Shit!” I dropped the baggage I was holding and rushed to her side. “How did you get hurt? When was this? Why haven’t you called someone? The Doctor! We’re going there right n-“ “Goodness Knight! What’s wrong with you?” She pushed me back hard enough that I stumbled over the box I’d dropped and nearly landed on my ass. “What’s going on?” But my heart was at the pit of my stomach and terror had taken me in a chokehold. The only thing I could do was point my fingers in the direction of her forehead and cheek that was covered in a dark red liquid. How could she not be feeling any pain? H
Chapter 16: 20 Questions Knight’s P.O.V: “You paid for your college tuition?” I asked her. “What about your parents? They didn’t help you pay for it?” “Oh, they wanted to.” She shook her head. “But I insisted that I’d pay for my own tuition. I was eighteen and I could earn my own money.” “That’s so…sensible. Not a lot of people would think that way.” I told her thoughtfully. “I know. My brother was my biggest inspiration actually. He started working way before he turned eighteen.” She said. “He didn’t really have to work since both my dad and mom have their own companies that he could inherit, but he decided to be a painter instead.” “So, he’s a painter.” I said. That seemed like the only part of her story that sounded believable. Her mom and dad owning companies though…I somehow found that impossible. Why would she have to work as a model if her parents owned separate companies? Shouldn’t she be livin
Chapter 17: Between a rock and a very hard surface Elena’s P.O.V: I watched the color drain out of Knight’s face as soon as I told him who might be at the door, but as much as I wanted to feel sorry for him, I kinda felt like he deserves this. Oh, who am I kidding? He definitely deserves this and so much more. Serves him right. I took off my mitts and went over to the couches where I had placed my shrug and pulled it on real quick while Knight stood frozen beside the kitchen counter. To be honest, it was his fault for arriving unannounced. Kareena and I had made plans a couple days earlier when we’d been texting each other and she’d found out about my side-job. I’d sent her a few sample pictures of my work that she’d loved and she’d asked if she could buy one from me. It was a painting of a woman standing under a tree with a child in her arms. I had drawn t a while back but since I had a picture of it saved up in my phone, I’
Chapter 18: Unexpected Arrival Elena’s P.O.V: That night, I hardly got any sleep. The fact that I’ve messed up enough so my parents have to step in kept constantly haunting me. The thought that I had disappointed them enough for them to step in, it was just too stressful. I wanted to come to LA so I could prove to them that I was a hard worker and that I could pave my own path. That I didn’t need the Macaluson and Thornton names to be famous. But I ended up making things a lot worse; and not just for myself but for my parents as well. I could only imagine the scandal we’ll all be facing once word gets out. A sudden thought crossed my mind, a thought that I immediately dismissed, but the seeds had already been planted. What if it could actually work out? What if, if I married Knight…No! I’d already dug my grave; I couldn’t let my child suffer too, in case things went south with Knight. Besides, how much did I e
Chapter 19: Unfinished Business Elena’s P.O.V: I squeezed my eyes shut and leaned my head against the door as soon as I entered my room and shut the door behind me. God! Just when I thought my life was full of drama… But why was he here and not my parents? I sighed and rubbed at my temples, only then realizing that the bouquet of lilies was still in my hand. “Shit!” I went over to my nightstand and picked out an empty vase before going into the bathroom to fill it up and place the flowers in it. They were beautiful, no doubt, but what surprised me was that Landon had remembered that they were my favorite flowers. Deciding that there was no point denying the inevitable, I quickly took a nice warm shower to wash off all the paint and then dried and dressed in a white full sleeve dress that reached my knees and decided to let my hair dry naturally. I didn’t bother putting on any makeup, because La
Chapter 20: Nerve-wracking Knight’s P.O.V: I made my bed; went over to the kitchen to make myself some coffee; waited patiently for the coffee to get done; drank the entire cup and then headed back to the bed; twisted and turned restlessly and then got up to make the bed again. By now I’d already drank five cups of coffee and my bladder was about to burst but I couldn’t seem to snap myself out of this crazy ritual that I had going on since this morning. I was more than a little nervous and I didn’t know what to do about it. Yeah, sure night! You’re a perfect example of a nice guy. First screw a girl without knowing her marital status. Then see yourself plastered all over the newspaper in a shameful position. Then go check the CCTV footage and find some innocent girl moving around backstage doing her business and instantly assume that she’s the culprit. And then do the unthinkable and fool her at a bar and have revenge
