Chapter 33

My mouth slightly opened and the Pringles slipped out of my hand to the ground. He bent to pick it up, while I involuntarily covered my mouth with my hand.

He stood up and I noticed his curls. He still had his curls! My eyes lingered on his face. He was unlined and fresh faced. How was he still looking young? He looked a bit older, but it was pretty hard to tell his age.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." He smiled again, showing off his pearly whites.

"Emmet?" I squinted my eyes and took a step forward.

"Oh, wow! She speaks." He stared at the floor and rubbed the back of his neck. "Wait, how did you know my name? Don't tell me I wore my name tag out." He glanced down at his shirt and wiped invisible sweat off his forehead. "Phew!"

"You don't recognize me?" I asked a stupid question.

"Uhm, you look a bit familiar. I'm not sure." He combed his curls with his fingers.
