Chapter 34

My eyes unconsciously searched the park for the nearest hiding spot. My eyes widened more--I was too late and I couldn't run with another woman's baby.

I averted my gaze to the baby in my arms. His eyes were big and bottle green. I buried the hatchet a long time ago, but she was the last person on my list to-hell! She wasn't even in my list to start with. My subconscious scolded me for still letting her presence affect me after how many years. 

The baby moved again, scratching his nose with his chubby hands. She stood beside me, but I pretended not to see her. 

"Oh, you have a baby now." She pursed her lips--her voice was laced with sarcasm. "I'm not surprised. After growing up with a-" she covered her mouth and widened her eyes.
