Chapter 80: Unpredictable

"Good morning!" Bailey chirped as I walked into the Clinic, ready to start the day.

"Good morning," I smiled, giving her a knowing look as I put my things away and started getting ready. "So, how's Cruz?" I hadn't talked to her about him yet and I was dying to know how they got along.

A broad smile spread across her lips. "He's much better. Thanks."

"So, you two hit it off?"

She shrugged. "So far, so good. I don't know why I never noticed it before, but he's a great guy once you get to know him."

I chuckled. "Yes, he is. Did he tell you how we met?"

Bailey laughed. "Yes. You hit him with your car, right?"

"Yes, but in my defense, he ran out in front of me. I didn't see him coming." Then I thought of something. "I never did find out what he was running from. Now that I think of it, there had to have been someone chasing him."

"He said that he was running from some hunters," she replied. Then her expression suddenly turned serious. "I wonder if they were Balista's men."
