Twenty Three

Back at home, Cameron was surprised to see the house a bit more deserted than usual. It wasn't as if it was always crowded or anything, but finding the front door open with no one in the sitting room was not something he had expected.

He walked down the hall, then back to the living room but no one was there. He wondered where Davey was, and soon, he began to call his name.

"Davey?" he called, and then tried again, but there was no response from the man who was usually very attentive, but then again, it was his first time not to be in around like this.

Unlike usual days, nobody came to take his bag, or car keys like Davey or one of the cleaners would do, and Ruby wasn't even in sight as well. This made him frown, and then a worry line marred his forehead. He stepped out of the living room to walk around and look for someone.

The kitchen was also vacant but he could see that there was a kettle that was over boiling on the stove, and he walked quickly to it to get it off but it burn
