Chapter Three

The pack seemed peaceful that morning, the pack had always being peaceful but that morning was different. The environment was serene and the quietness there was almost eerie, sounds of leaves being crunched under the foot interrupted the rhythmic silence as Grey walked the pack grounds. He was bored and decided to take a walk.

His thoughts ran wild as he stared into the blank space, the guards who passed by him either halted or simply curtsied and left, everyone was in a hurry to leave his presence as he wore a murderous look that morning. His train of thoughts were interrupted by a sound.

"Decided to take a walk today?" A voice asked.

Grey turned to face the one who intruded his privacy, the scowl on his face was replaced by a rare smile and the only one capable of such flashed him a smile as well.

"Noah, I was wondering why everyone was quite and peaceful, turned out it can never be quiet and peaceful with you around." Grey said sternly.

Noah shook his head and chuckled, he threw a light punch at the stoic man who was fast enough to dodge and return his.

"Ouch!" Noah exclaimed while he rubbed his shoulders which slightly hurt from the impact of the punch he just received.

"I can't believe you're my brother!" Noah exclaimed childishly.

Grey snickered.

"If not for the fact that we look alike I would have disowned you a long time ago, you think I love keeping you around?" Grey taunted.

"Given the chance you'd have me murdered." Noah threw back.

"Yes I will but there are too many eyes watching, besides; it's a sin against the goddess to kill a rat." Grey teased.

Noah frowned as his brother rhad fun at his own expense, he paused to enjoy the long laughter his brother engaged in, it was a rare sight to see him laugh. Grey was indeed his brother but he was also the infamously ruthless and heartless alpha in all of the werewolf lands, he paused to wonder how the man who was once tender and scared of cockroaches had grown to become so cd and heartless that he's nicknamed the devil himself.

Grey caught his brother staring at him and he hissed.

"I know I'm good-looking but do you have to stare at me for that long? Don't tell me you're in love with me." Grey teased.

Noah scoffed.

"In love with you? The ruthless devil Noah Xander himself? I'd rather eat my words." Noah boasted.

"Boring." Grey said dismissively.

Noah felt pained by his brother's cold demeanor and a smile curved at the did eof his lips, he pointed to the tree behind Grey and screamed.

"Cockroach!"

Grey jumped almost immediately into Noah's hands as he shook in fear, Noah in turn burst into laughter after seeing his elder brother cower at the mention of cockroaches, Noah saw the Grey he had grown to admire once more, the Grey that feared cockroaches but all that was in the past as after their parents death he stepped in to become the alpha and became the ruthless devil they knew.

Grey saw that he was tricked and cleared his throat before regaining his composure, Noah tried to hide his laughter while Grey shot him a death glare.

"What do you want?" Grey asked hurriedly, in an attempt to cover his embarrassment.

Noah's expression suddenly became swollen, he remembered his purpose for approaching his brother.

"The council requests your presence."

"What for?"

"I have no idea but it seems important."

"I'll grant them a hearing tomorrow."

"Actually, they are at the meeting ground this moment, all that's left is your presence."

Grey sighed, he hated speaking with the council as all they knew was condemning his actions and pressurizing him to find a mate.

"I'll be right there." Grey said dismissively.

He expected Noah to leave but the latter still stood there hence he stared at him, Noah rolled his eyes dramatically and exhaled deeply.

"I was told to come along with you." Noah confessed.

Grey laughed hysterically, they had sent the only person whom he would hesitate to yell at or turn down to bring him over, he sighed and opted to go with him.

"Lead the way." He said impatiently.

Noah smiled and walked towards the meeting ground and Grey trailed behind him, soon they arrived at the meeting ground and all the council members stood to receive him. Grey ignored them all and sat on the throne.

"Proceed with whatever you have to say." Grey said rudely.

They all had their portests but none dared to say a word, Grey hated that he had to be rude to them but they were hypocrites and he didn't hide his displeasure.

"Noah, you've made a lot of progress after your parents demise and we will forget be indebted to you but it is time that you chose a mate so the pack will have a heir and also flourish." Pierre; an elder said.

Grey chuckled.

"The other packs are seeking to have an alliance with us as we are currently the most powerful pack around but for us to be the Supreme pack you must have a Luna by your side, we think it would be great if we organize a ceremony for you and invite all maidens around so you could chose for yourself since it's taking you longer than usual to...." Another elder suggested, his voice trailing off as I stared at him.

My blood noiled in anger, they were insinuating that I was incompetent of finding a mate for myself which was a huge insult to me.

"In two weeks, I'll show my Luna to the entire pack, I do not need your pathetic help!" I growled and angrily stomped out of the place.

I seethed in anger and made up my mind, two weeks! Just two weeks and I'll find my mate even if it meant going to the end of the earth.
