I watched Athena leave with her mother and Jessica. A part of me went with her. I had vowed after she survived the incident with Sebastian that I was never going to let her out of my sight ever again, but look where we are now. Fate has dealt us a heavy blow, showing us how cruel it can be. She would be safer there than she would be here.

There is definitely going to be a bloodbath here tonight, and I don't want her to experience any of that. She has been through so much already; she doesn't need to be put through any more traumatic experiences.

Nuella, James, and I led the members of staff, the elders, and everyone else in the building outside, into the woods, but not too far away from the mansion. They would stay hidden there until we returned from procuring the weapons from the firearms department. Every man was eligible to wield a firearm for this battle; the only people who would be exempted are children, and thankfully, there are none around.
