26. Missing Mate

Dante's POV

It’d been over twenty-four hours since my mate got missing. I subjected everyone in the kingdom to a compulsory search but they all kept bringing back the same result I didn’t want to accept, “We didn’t find her.” It made me even more depressed than I ever was. I barely got out from her room. It wasn’t the best way to fix the situation, I knew. A strong leader like me wasn’t expected to sulk around but I couldn’t help it. Was I not enough? Did I do something wrong? Was I too forward with the intimacy? But she initiated it. I couldn’t wrap my head around the reason for her departure. I was ready to clear her doubts regardless of whatever it might be but the fear of receiving another rejection delayed my next move—going to her pack.
