Chapter 39

Valerie returned to work to find the work she left behind waiting for her, although a few had been sorted out by her manager. She took off her boots, wore her slippers, and rolled her sleeves up. She was ready to continue from where she stopped but now with a smile on her face. She smiled brightly remembering when Justin had put his hands on her lips helping her wipe the crumb of chicken from her lips.

"I'm sure you are not smiling brightly because you saw me," Tyler said as she walked in.

"Oh Tyler," Valerie chuckled as she watched Tyler walk into the office.

"So what's making you smile so brightly?" Tyler asked.

Valerie was about to reply to her when her phone started ringing. She checked the caller Id but it was an unknown number. Then it dawned on her that it was the number that always called her but never spoke up. She picked the call up.

"Hello," she said.
