Gavin’s POV
“We are in the process of relocating your parents as we speak, Alpha. Do you want us to send you, their location?” One of the gammas asked in a mindlink.
“No,” Gavin answered, and it pained him to do so. “It would be better if I didn’t know where they were. The least I know, the better.”
“Are you sure? They have been requesting to speak with you.”
“Tell them it’s for their own protection,” Gavin ordered.
“Yes, Alpha,” the gamma said before ending the mindlink.
Gavin sat at his desk, rubbing his temples with his pointer finger and thumb. The picture that was sent to him remained on his desk.
Now the Slayers were after his family, and he had no idea what he was going to do to stop them. It would have been nearly impossible to stop them if the vessels couldn’t be detected and stopped. He had already tried to stop two of the vessels and that didn’t work.

Erin’s POV With a sore heart, I hung up the phone. I leaned against my car, staring down at the screen. It certainly wasn’t the wrong number; a woman answered his phone. But who? And why was she allowed to answer his phone so easily? Was he not concerned that it could have been me that was calling him? I hated this feeling; a jealous pit formed in my lower abdomen, and I wanted to get rid of it. I shoved my phone into my pocket and slid into my car. My body was trembling from the frigid air. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but I certainly wasn’t expecting a woman to be answering his phone. There was a part of me that thought about calling him back and asking him who that woman was. But another part of me worried that she would just answer his phone again. It also wasn’t my business and I recognized that. I bit onto my bottom lip to keep the tears from spilling out of my eyes.
Erin’s POVJill Pierce. I knew that name vividly. I have never met her though, but I have heard of her. When I dated Gavin in high school, I knew he had a sister that was sent away to a boarding school. She was rarely ever home. Now that I was looking directly at her, it was obvious now that this was Gavin’s sister. They looked so similar. She had a kind look in her eyes when she looked at me and she waited for me to introduce myself to her in return. I didn’t want to tell her my real name on the off chance that she might know who I am. “Nora,” I told her. “My name is Nora.” “It’s nice to meet you, Nora,” she said in return, widening her smile. “I’ll be going now. My brother will be worried if I’m gone too long. Thank you for saving me. I owe you so much.” On that note, she turned and left. I was at a loss for words. I had no idea his sister was in town; now I was thinking back to the woman who answered his phone. Could that have been Jill? “We should have known our mate wou
Henry’s POV“Judy… what happened to you,” Henry said, standing to his feet and rushing toward her.She had tears in her eyes, despite her face looking expressionless. She allowed him to help her to one of the chairs and sit down.“I got into an argument with my husband last night,” she said, her tone almost hollow. “He asked why I didn’t take his offer and I told him because the amount of money he was offering me to shut me up was pathetic. It wasn’t enough. I wanted to take everything from him because he didn’t deserve any of it.”Henry sat down at his desk, eyeing her carefully and keeping quiet as she continued.“He lost it…” she breathed, glancing down at her fingers which she was tugging at. “He called me a selfish and lying bitch. Told me he wished that I was dead and that we never should have married. I said finally something we agreed on. I saw the fire in his eyes, and I knew it was only a matter of time before he hurt me. He
Erin’s POVHenry returned home a couple of hours after he told me he’d be there. I was able to shower and get dressed in comfortable clothing by the time he returned so I didn’t have to explain to him anything. He wanted me to order a pizza, so I had it waiting for him at the kitchen table when he walked into the house. He looked exhausted, not like someone who was about to spend the entire night investigating the vessels with me.We had a plan to go to Bane’s pack and do a little digging on him. But telling from Henry’s exhausted look, that might have to wait until another day.“Is everything okay?” I asked, watching as he sat down at the table.“Yes,” he said. “Just a last-minute client meeting. I wasn’t really planning on staying that late. I’m sorry for keeping you waiting.”I wasn’t going to tell him about running into Gavin’s sister or anything that happened that evening.I sat down with him and grabbe
Erin’s POVI’ve only seen Jeremy standing beside Bane in photos; I’ve never actually met him. But as he stood before me, he was incredibly tall and had broad shoulders. His arms were also giant, and it looked like he could crush me with a flick of his finger. He looked like an Alpha, but he wasn’t. He was a Beta.Henry didn’t look threatened by him though; he stood his ground with his arms folded across his chest as he stared up at the tall and large Beta wolf.“Neither of you belongs here,” he said, glancing between the two of us. “I’ve been watching you since you arrived earlier. Why are you following the Alpha?”“The question is, why is your Alpha buying a ring when everyone knows he’s unmated?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.“Why is that any of your business? Who are you?”“We are part of the police force,” Henry answered before I could say anything.Jeremy raised his brows as he glanced at Henry.&nb
Erin’s POVI couldn’t believe what I was looking at. My heart was crushed, and I stumbled backward into Henry who stood behind me, also shocked.Moments later, Bane arrived, and he took charge right away.“We need to get the body out of here and put the pack on lockdown. Nobody is to leave until I can figure out who did this to my Beta.”I could hear the women of the pack crying their eyes out, but their voices grew distorted. Everything around me was growing distorted.I looked at Bane who had dark eyes; though he was taking charge, there were no emotions on his face.I wondered if it was him that had done this.Thinking that this was our fault, that Jeremy died because we were snooping around, made my heart squeeze painfully in my chest.“We need to get out of here...” Henry whispered from behind me.At that moment, Bane looked over at us and his eyes darkened even more. His eyes locked onto mine
Gavin’s POVIt’s been a couple of days since Gavin agreed to let Judy Conrad stay in his packhouse. She’s been a great guest for a human, he had to admit. She helped in the kitchen, assisted the workers in keeping the place clean, and was incredibly kind.Gavin had promised not to tell anyone why she was there to protect her from her husband, so he just told everyone that she was an old friend that would be staying with him for a while.Everyone seemed to have bought it.He spent most of the last couple of days on a hunt to find Susanna, without there being any luck.He knows that Susanna will most likely come for Erin and couldn’t allow that to happen. He also knows that Erin will probably still want to continue working at the diner, even though she knows she’s in direct danger because that’s the kind of woman she is. It was infuriating but also incredibly attractive in the eyes of Gavin. However, lately, whenever h
Erin’s POVI couldn’t stop staring at her; she was absolutely stunning. She looked much older, but she was so beautiful and well-kept.Most importantly, she had her arms wrapped around Gavin’s like they were an item. A knot formed in my stomach as soon as I saw the two of them together.I had never seen her in any of our packs before and I didn’t have any research on her from the organization. But as they got closer, I realized why that was.She wasn’t a she-wolf at all.She was a human.I must have looked as stunned as I felt because Gavin’s eyes darkened when he saw me and then a smirk appeared on his lips like he was testing me or something. I felt a wave of fury washing over me.What kind of sick game was he trying to play?I shook the thought out of my head and straightened my stance. I knew Kelsey was watching with curious and worried eyes, but I didn’t say anything to her. I kept a fake smile on my fa
