Chapter 3

The first meeting was a disaster, everyone left the room with a frown on their faces. Asher was everything they said he was; Cold, heartless and an insatiable freak. I know we weren't the top leading branch in terms of sales but we weren't running into losses either. But Asher was demanding a 100% doubling of sales which was impossible, he criticized everybody during the briefing, called us Lazy and incompetent. It took a lot of energy not to counter him from everyone. Then he told us that if we wanted to keep our jobs then we better stepped up, he gave each of us a back breaking task to be finished by the end of the day. Nobody dared to complain but it was clear on everyone's faces.

I groaned as I looked at the mountain of paper work that awaited me on my desk. My job was twice as bulky compared to everyone's because I was the secretary and every work went through me before arriving at the CEO's desk. I was tempted to curse Asher out loud but I restrained myself because my cubicle was the closest to his office and he could see me very clearly. I can't believe I slept with such a jerk.

I took the first pile of paper and began going through it when my phone rang. I checked the ID and it was Garrett. Why the hell was he calling me during office hours? I reduced the volume and let it ring, maybe he would stop if I didn't answer. I continued to go through my work but the phone came ringing, I was forced to pick up.

“Bitch, why didn't you pick my calls? I was about to barge into your office building to fish you out” I heard Garrett irritated voice.

“I was working, wait… you are outside?” I whisper-shouted, suddenly feeling anxious. I didn't want anyone to see him because I knew he will definitely cause a scene.

“Yes, come outside and see me or else I'm going in” he threatened.

“Ok…Okay I'm coming, stay there” I said as I got up from my chair and pretended like I was going to the restroom before rushing out of the office building. And sure, Garrett was really outside my office building standing by his favorite white Mercedes Benz GLB class and a cigarette in between his lips. He had blue eyes and blond hair that concealed a scar on his left eyebrow, a sharp jawline with stubble, matched with a flirtatious smile that made me fall in love with him initially and detest him after multiple cheating scandals. He was tall but not as tall as Asher… wait, why was I comparing them? Focus, Lorie.

I couldn't help but look behind me repeatedly to make sure no one was watching me as I approached him. “Why are you so paranoid, do you have a side cock in there that you are hiding from me?” he asked with accusing eyes.

“What are you talking about and what are you doing here?” I questioned sharply.

He immediately grabbed my chin harshly and said, “Don't you raise your voice at me. Aye, someone has been giving you wings huh? Is that where you went last night you slut?” he pushed my face to the side with force. My eyes brimmed with tears and I kept praying in my heart that no one was watching me.

“I went to the bar last night to have a couple drinks and slept off on the curb till late, you know I'm a lightweight” I said with a much calmer voice.

“I don't believe a word you say, I saw you this morning staggering into the house with a man's suit jacket on your shoulders. I'm going to find out who that side cock is and when I do, this world won't contain the three of us” Before I could say anything, he got into his car and drove off with speed.

Shit shit shit!!!

After our sexual escapade that night, Asher had given me his suit jacket because of the cold. I was so exhausted and sleepy that I didn't notice that Garrett, who was passed out on the couch, saw me walk in. Funny how he couldn't look away from anything in a skirt but was enraged about me sleeping out. I needed to be careful though, I still have Elle's surgery to sort out, I shouldn't make Garrett more angry. That was my main concern, after that is settled I wouldn't mind anything that happened next.

I was in big trouble now, Garrett and Asher must never meet no matter what. Garrett was a very irrational person and he got easily enraged, god knows what he would do if I found out I had a one night stand with Asher. And Asher was my boss, my job was on the line and aside from that, he doesn't look like a pushover. Their meeting was something I dreaded and would try everything I can to avoid it.

I sighed and touched my chin that ached a bit from his strong grip. I will think about how to solve this issue later but first I had a ton of work to go through thanks to that asshole in the guise of my boss. I turned and headed back into the building. As I passed through the door, I saw Asher's imposing figure staring at me. He had his hands in his pocket and his signature blank look on his face.

Shit! Did he see me outside with Garrett?

I was about to ignore him and continue walking when he said, “As far as I know, office hours don't end till 7pm, you can't wait to go home?”

“I'm sorry, Sir, it won't happen again” I apologized with my head bowed slightly.

“It better not” He said in a stern voice.

I was about to take my walk of shame when he added, “And also, bring my suit jacket tomorrow, it's one of my favorites”
