Lorie’s pov

We had to leave the hospital since Elle was going to be under critical examination by the experienced personnel in the post-operative care unit and we couldn't go in even though we were family. We stood outside the hospital bidding goodbye to my mother. She was finally going home after spending almost every day for two years watching over Elle in the hospital.

‘Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?’ I asked again holding her hand with my left hand not wanting to let her go.

‘come with me to do what?’ she asked releasing her hand from my hold.

‘keep you company perhaps?’ I said not sure if I was asking or stating my reason.

‘keep your husband's company.’ She replied smiling.

‘Are you sure you'd be okay alone?’ I asked again tugging at her bag.

‘yes, I will. Stop worrying about me Lorie and go meet your husband at home. You guys are newlyweds, you need to explore.’ She winked at me pulling her bag from my reach.

‘Can I board a taxi for you ma?’ Tom asked my mother
