Chapter 31

Ashton's pov

My heart pounded in my chest, as the doctor continued examining Grace. An oxygen mask was instantly placed on her face to make sure plenty of oxygen reached her lungs after being deprived from it for so long. Every fiber of my being was consumed by a seething anger that threatened to boil over.

Grace lay motionless on my bed, her face pale and fragile. The doctor monitored her vital signs and provided the support she desperately needed by giving her some injections. My hands clenched into fists at my sides as I fought to contain the overwhelming surge of rage coursing through my veins.

The scene replayed in my mind like a nightmare on an endless loop. I clearly remembered the moment of seeing her lifeless, sprawled on the bathroom floor. And after the CPR, she came back to consciousness for two minutes before passing out again in my arms as I carried her out.

With every passing second, my fury intensified. I couldn't forgive myself for not being there to protect her,
