Chapter 33

“Morgan, I am honored that you chose me as your human… host, as it were. But why me?”. Our eyes close and I’m transported back to a petrified me, back in the woods. I was on the brink of death, bleeding faster than I could recover between beatings. A calmness comes over my face, leaning my head back. “You were ready to die and did not fear your fate but you would not give them the satisfaction of making it too easy. Your spirit, your rigor… you are me in human form my love”.

Liam and Lee are watching as we communicate internally. “What is she saying, what is Emma saying?”. “Emma is an exceptional warrior, all on her own. She wanted to know why I chose her. I showed her. Nothing breaks her spirit, her resolve. This cannot be taught or captured”. I felt a pang of love at her words. I cannot believe the goddess of battle chose me.

Turning to face Liam, “let Kalen come forward”. Liam thinks for a second before his eyes change to their black stones. “There you are my love”.
