Chapter 3

OUIJA BOARD 3

I crammed books into my school bag.  Kevin's gift still on the study table.  This is not the time to be curious about things that are completely unimportant.  Moreover, because of that, Mommy was angry with me. Maybe after school, I will open it.  Just if me remember.  I want to go to school quickly, but it's impossible without breakfast.

Mommy is still frying eggs in silence.  Shut up for me.  Don't ask again, I'm sure she's very angry about last night.  I regret giving Kevin permission to enter the room.  Daddy smirked at me.  His face is so annoying.  I want to throw dry bread at him.  We had breakfast without much to say.

After breakfast, Daddy and I set off together, while Mommy was busy cleaning up the breakfast plates.  Daddy escorted him to the school gate.  Helen was sitting in the garden reading a book, I approached and asked where the others were.  Soon Sarra came over to us.  But Henry, Kevin and Alex haven't come yet.

Early in the morning I went to Mr.  Julius is accompanied by Sarra and Helen, to ask for additional time regarding the French manuscript which was delayed last night.  They only escorted me to the door, then I went into the room alone.  Thankfully, Mr.  Julius tolerated, this was quite helpful.

"You forgot not to do it?"  asked Helen curiously.

 "No."

"What happened?"  Sarra sounded more curious.

"Mommy caught me alone with Kevin in the room and-"

"What! You two in the room with Kevin?"  said Sara.  Suddenly they giggled and looked at each other.

"Did you cover yourself with a blanket?"  asked Helen.

"Did you enjoy it so much that you didn't even notice your parents at home?"  asked Sarah.

"What are you guys talking about? Hey, hey, listen. I was finishing my French assignment last night. Then Kevin came to give me a present. Then Mommy caught us. That's why I asked you to accompany me this morning. It was all a misunderstanding. Do you understand?  "

"Ooh."  said Sara.  They looked at each other and giggled again.  I can only shake my head.  No in the home, no the school.  Same thing, it sucks!

Until the afternoon came, Mommy still didn't want to say a word.  Me?  I'm won't to start first.  Even though I realized I was wrong.  The gift from Kevin is still there.  Intrigued by its contents, I reached for the scissors in the drawer.  A board game that says OUIJA BOARD.  Why did that weird kid give me this toy?  Why not give me a book or something more useful.

 'knock-knock'

 "Beverly, are you asleep?"

That's Mommy.  I immediately hid it under the bed, "Not yet."

Mommy came in and I tried to smile.  Okay, this is awkward.

 "You're not doing your homework?"

"I'm just getting started. Mr. Julius's job isn't finished yet."

"Well, you can tell me about last night," she said, taking a seat on the bed.

"Oh, yeah. I'm studying. Kevin suddenly came to scare me and asked for a copy of the assignment."  Oh God, this is a stupid excuse.  I decided to hide about the gift.

"A copy of the assignment? Did you give him a cheat sheet?"

"No, no, I'm not giving it to you. Mom, listen, it's all a misunderstanding, okay? Kevin and I didn't do anything. He played a prank on me and yeah, I shouldn't have let him in the room. I should have kept the window closed.  It's all my fault. I'm sorry."  My eyes suddenly felt hot.

Mommy smiled, "Sweetheart, Mommy and Daddy never forbid you to do anything and make friends with anyone. But that doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. We still set boundaries and rules until you're old enough. Do you understand?"

This time I couldn't hold back the tears anymore.  Only a nod was the answer.  Mommy hugged me.

 "Mommy forgive me?"

"Of course, Sweetheart."  Then she left me.

 'Ting'

[Bev, my laptop is broken. For our task, we are use yours, okay!]

The contents of the text message from Sarra.  I patted my forehead.  Sarra will come here to do the task.  Now what?  I just made up with Mommy and was about to bring another friend home.  Oh, I hope Mommy can understand.  After all, Sarra is a girl and we are supposed to work together.

I ran to Mommy's room.  She looked very neat in front of the mirror.

 "Um, Mom."

 Mommy turned to me.

"I have to do today's assignment. It's very important for extra grades. But I have to do it with Sarra. If you don't mind, I'd like to ask permission for us to do the assignment here."

"It's ok. No problem. As long as you don't bring the boys into your room."

"I'm promise," I said excitedly, holding up two fingers.

"Mommy has something to do and will probably be home late. Take good care of the house and don't mess around."

Mommy took the bag and kissed me.  Then walk away.  The sound of a car engine was getting farther away.  I clenched both hands.  Yeah!

Sarra arrived ten minutes later and we got straight to work.  Then proceed with watching action movies.  Our tortillas are almost run outs.

"Bev, you said Kevin gave you a present. What's in it?"

 "A board game."

"Hahaha. It's like giving a gift to a child. May I have a look?"

I immediately took the board in the room, "This is it."

"Wow. You know what it does?"

"Never mind the function, I don't even know how to play it. It's the first time I've seen it," I said as I continued to eat the remaining tortillas.

"It's a spirit summoning board. I've read an article about the Ouija Board. He's a big horror lover and knows good collectibles. You're in luck. You know? This game isn't for sale because it always manages to summon spirits."  Sarra was excited to explain.  What's with this kid?

"It's okay. Are you saying that this game is limited edition?"

"You still don't understand. But why did Kevin give you this thing?"  Sarra smiled "I think he likes you."

 I choked then laughed.

"He likes me by giving me this board? Seriously. If someone else is in love, he will definitely give flowers, rings or anything that looks romantic. Not a stupid board game like this."

Sarra rolled her eyes "Shall we invite the others to play it?"

 "Can you play it?"

 Sara smiled.

Henry, Helen, Alex and Kevin have gathered at my house.  We chose the basement of the house to do the game.  Mommy mentions the prohibition of entering friends into my room.  But Mommy didn't mention the basement ban.
