Prologue

"YOU ARE ONE WEEK PREGNANT."

When I confirmed that my suspicions were correct, the doctor's words rang in my ears. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I stood in front of my boyfriend's house, unsure whether I should continue or retreat. I was terrified... There are so many possibilities that my mind is jumbled, and I feel as if I'm going insane.

What if my boyfriend deny about our future baby? What will be my parents reaction?

It's been a week since we attended a debut party. I am not aware of what happened… All I can remember is the loud music accompanied by loud shouts from different peoples. Then I got drunk and so on…

I messed up my hair and frustratedly looked up at the house. I let out a deep breath… and using my trembling hand, I knocked twice.

I close my eyes when no one responds. "Please… Love, please…" I whispered hopefully. I bit my lower lip to stop it from trembling, even my vision was blurred by the incessant tears.

I knocked again. Sequential.

I exhaled a sigh of relief because someone had already opened the door this time. Aunt Eloisa, my boyfriend's mother, greeted me with an irritated expression that was quickly replaced by concern when she saw how I looked. She quickly grabbed both of my arms.

"Hailey… What happened to you? Why are you crying?" She wiped the tears from my cheeks as she was confused and didn't know what to do.

"Liam… Where is he?"

She guided me into the house and I drifted off. My chest was pounding with excitement.

"Liam! Get down there!" Tita Eloisa shouted and hurried up the stairs.

Liam's sister, who was now sitting next to me, looked away, distracting herself with her phone.

I quickly noticed Liam coming down the stairs. I was able to sit up when our gazes met. His brows drew together immediately, irritated by my presence. As he got closer to me, his step became heavier.

"What the hell, Hailey?!"

"Liam! That's rude!" Aunt Eloisa warned him.

I immediately stood up and adjusted myself. I wiped away my tears before approaching him and pulled into their kitchen. I made sure that no one would follow us. Liam didn't complain even though there were traces of irritation on his face.

"L-Liam…" I muttered.

His jaw cleched. "Can't you speak without stuttering?" he asked aloud.

I took a deep breath. "I'm pregnant."

He was stunned.

He was silent for a few seconds but after a while, I was surprised when he suddenly pulled my left arm and held it tightly. I complained of pain and tried to escape.

"Hey! I-it hurts!"

"Bitch, what did you say?!" he asked, enraged. His face began to redden signs of fury. "YOU'RE PREGNANT?!"

I couldn't open my mouth because my throat getting dry. I was expecting this reaction from him, but I'm still taken aback. I knew he wouldn't like it, but I'm hoping there's still a chance... that he'll change and this will be good news for him.

"Fuck, you can't get pregnant! What are you planning? You'll entrust me that trash?!" He pointed my tummy—I could the disgust on him.

My heart beats faster with fear. I could do nothing but keep quiet because he might get even angrier.

"L-Liam… It's yours…"

“No! I didn't get you pregnant! I am not the father of that child!" He released me violently and if I hadn't just held on to the dining table, I would have almost fallen over. When I turned my gaze back to him, it was the sharp stare I met. "Why are you so careless?! You have a lot of men, don't you? I am not the fucking father!"

"Don't you dare accuse me like that!" I screamed, holding back my cry. I clasped my hands and tearfully met his gaze. "You know how I value my self. Why can't you accept it?! I am pregnant and you'll be a father!"

"I said I'm not the father!" He slapped me hard.

I fell to the floor and cried as I caressed my numb cheek. My breath became heavier.

Even before I could recover, he pulled me upright and forcibly dragged me out. I tried to stop him but he was so strong to the point that I can't even move. I just heard Aunt's scream who looked surprised and also tried to suppress him.

"Stop! Be careful, I'm pregnant!" I begged while crying.

He pushed me out and opened the door. Fortunately, aunt Eloisa intervened right away, otherwise I would have fallen again. Crying, I took a step back, trembling with fear. He might kill our future baby, which I don't want to happen.

Liam's face was still red from his rage as he stared at me. His shoulder was also moving quickly as a result of his deep breathing. I understand that having a child is a threat to him because he still has many dreams to fulfill on his own... And the baby in my womb has the potential to ruin them.

"Y-You are pregnant?" Aunt Eloisa asked, looking incredulous at what she heard.

I looked at Liam first before nodding my head slowly.

We immediately heard the loud crashing of trash cans as a result of Liam's kick. I took another step back.

"That's not mine! Nothing is happening to us yet! Are you trying to trick me?! Huh? You slut!"

My eyes widened. "What are you saying?!" I shouted.

I looked at Aunt Eloisa when she slowly released me, a trace of confusion in her expression.

"Why? Isn't it true?! Nothing really happen, right? Now, tell me, who got you pregnant?!"

"Have you forgotten about the party last week?! We made love!"

"Love your face! Ha! Me? I guess you're with someone else that time. You were drunk then, weren't you? Don't fucking trick me, Hailey!"

I shook my head. He's lying… I'm sure he is and he's just making a way to escape his responsibility.

"Hailey, are you sure it's my son?" Auntie asked, doubtfully.

My lips parted out of frustration, I tried not to cry.

"Of course, Auntie! Yes, I'm drunk! But I am aware— "

"Aware?! Stop lying to my face! Get out!" he shouted. He turned to his mother and pulled her away. "Mom, let's go in." He slammed the door shut.

I wanted to follow and stop them but I couldn’t move my body. I just sat on the floor and did nothing, still unable to accept the consequence.
