Chapter 62 – Amniocentesis

Emmett decided he wanted to go to Simone’s first antenatal appointment; even though she didn’t think it was necessary. “Regardless; I don’t want to be one of these fathers that aren’t involved in their child’s life” Emmett states as the pair get out of the car at the hospital. “It’s still my child, even though it’s in your body.”

“From what I’m told; nothing interesting is being done” Simone says as they walk up to the reception desk.

“Doesn’t matter; it’s still our baby” he argues as the nurse behind the desk asks them to sit in the waiting area. “And I don’t want to call the baby an it. I want to call it a he or her.”

“You want to find out the sex?” Simone asks, astonished by his comment. “I thought you wanted to wait until the baby was born to find out the sex.”

“Mrs Peterson?” A nurse calls out at the doorway of the waiting room.

“No” he whispers as they walk into an examination room. “I want to be prepared.”

“Mr and Mrs Peterson” Dr Stacey Gray says, coming into the examinat

I want to place a small note here. I used the excuse of having a Merina to have an Amniocentesis done. A Merina isn't a cause to have an Amnio and would not cause genetic problems to the unborn child. I wanted Simone to have one for the sole purpose of finding out the sex. Please don't take my writing as gospel if you have or are thinking of using a Merina as birth control.
